Here's all you need to know:
The personal details of 560 million Ticketmaster customers worldwide were stolen in the hack - with cyber criminals then attempting to sell that information online.

Companies should be held 100% liable for data that is stolen, any losses incurred by their customers, and any time spent by their customers to clean this mess up!

Absolutely they are liable.

Never used Ticketmaster, but assholes who hack people's information should be fed to rabid dogs.

In the offensive hackers vs defensive white hat defenders, the offensive team always has the advantage.

This is a key issue of our time even as the West fights for A.I supremacy in the world of cyber security, we have to understand that our enemies can hide without any consequences.

The company obviously cut corners on security. Which costs nothing.

Meh, $2500 or thereabouts get ya a guy to set things up right.

How you know if they're worth a crap or not is if they insist on a hardware firewall.

$25-600 and you pay for the hardware. Hardware is probably right around that much, too.

I'm surprised it took them this long.

560 million SUCKERS. Ticketmaster is a total scam that rips off every customer, by unnecessarily inserting themselves in the middle between the customer and the event venue greatly raising the cost of tickets to INSANE levels.

By every measure, a good ticket today to see a top-draw concert ought to sell for around $35-$40. Instead now people routinely pay $200-$300 just to see an event.

In the 1970s before Ticketmaster, I could go see the Rolling Stones, ELP, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, or anyone and get a seat right up front for no more than $6.50.

SUCKERS.

I remember a few years back when Yahoo was hacked. Yahoo acknowledged every single account was compromised. You then started seeing yahoo accounts for sale on sites like Black Hat World.

Oh this will go the way of every other data breach. People will be offered a year of free credit monitoring or a cut of a class action settlement fund that will mostly go to lawyers. I think it took me an extra 5 years to get mine from the Equifax settlement and instead of being paid the however many hundred dollars it was supposed to be I eventually got like 6 bucks.
