Everything in life can be a learning experience. I was in love with this beautiful girl once but treated her badly—she dumped me. I had this beautiful wife but treated her badly—she dumped me. I got one of them back through creative begging. Did I change? Yes, I did. People can change if they apply what they learn through experience. I can get by just fine if I am alone, but I can get by much better if I am with someone I love. We are not immortal; we are delicate. That person you love could be suddenly gone. It is then that we learn what being alone really means.

Not buying it.

People who were dicks talking about what dicks they were is about like the reformed drug addict talking about being high.....They can backslide at any time.

:eusa_clap: Great for you and thanks for sharing. If you want to change your life you have to first change your mind, and you exemplify this truth. You learned what was not working in your relationships and you turned that around. Bravo! Not everyone is open to changing anything about themselves. 🪷

I love this song.

Very little of what you think is important is actually important.

Curious which one you got back through creative begging. Was it the ex-wife or ex-girlfriend?

This is true. But with support and being around like people that support their spouses, they have a much better chance of staying repentant and staying good. Same with alcoholics as well. A person in our community was an alcoholic for 20 years. He didn't remember any of it. Had a wife and kid and remembered very little. A small local church that worked helping addicts helped get him sober. They wanted him to help others but he felt like he was slipping being around all that. So, when the Missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came along, he was interested because most of the members refrained from alcohol. Once he gained his testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, he converted. He remained a faithful temple going member for 11 years before his death from cancer. We have many that become LDS for the same reason. They surround themselves with others who don't drink. For many, you are who you hang around. For those that over come their addictions, what a fantastic effort! Praise God!

Hanging around Mormons is enough to drive you to drink and be a dick. ;)

Even when I was Jewish before joining, I had no problems being around LDS. They were always welcoming and friendly ready to help where they could. Their conversations can be a bit different. But, I would chalk that up to them wanting me to ask questions. Which is fine too. But, I get along with just about anyone.
