This Tree Is As Old As The Great Pyramid

Wow, I didn't know that trees lived this long. I knew that they lived a long time, but not this long!! 😮

/—-/ These YouTube links never take me to the correct video. They only link me to the last thing I watched. Any suggestions? Does this happen to anyone else on their iPhone?

Big deal!

Point taken. Still, when I see that tree, the first thing that comes to mind is that when it dies, the fight over the wood in it being sold to the highest bidder to be sliced up and sold to make tables and hearths and things for rich people with cash to burn. BIG money in that stuff these days.

Yeah, that's the real tragedy isn't it..

Well, a lot of the wood used these days are old logs that fell in the river years ago and became water logged and aged funky, but looking at that tree, I have to figure there are people who would kill for that wood. World's oldest wood--- I bet that tree could be worth millions.

Rich people pay an arm and leg for that sort of thing as bragging rights to have in their home.

If that tree ever dies, they will have to preserve it and put the thing in a museum.

As old as the Great Pyramid. And?

History does not start 4600 or 4800 years ago. Why are people so astounded that a :::

The Great Basin bristlecone pines are the oldest living non-clonal organisms on the planet. The oldest known living tree, Methuselah, has a verified age of almost 5,000-years old. They are gnarled, weather-beaten, and resilient, and live high on a cold, windswept mountaintop above Bishop.

"When you click a YouTube link on your iPhone, it will automatically open the YouTube app and take you to the last page you were viewing within the app, thanks to a feature called "Universal Links" which allows seamless transition between the app and other applications on your device; essentially, it remembers where you left off in the YouTube app when you click a link from elsewhere." - AI

How do I turn off universal links on my iPhone?

It is simple to disable Universal links on the phone. Click the domain name in the top right-hand corner after clicking a universal link. If you do that, it opens the link in safari and permanently disables universal links from the device.Mar 13, 2023

i had a chance to see the general sherman redwood when i was 10 years old. it's not the oldest, but the biggest living organism & est. to be 2200 years old.

I think the Honey Fungus is the largest organism, it's over 2 square kilometers if my memory serves.

Just curious, since we're on the topic on Trees...

Does anyone know how old the Joshua Trees are? I heard they're quite old. Not as old as that tree in the video.

i got that info from this site - it says ' by volume ' if that is a distinction?

The largest tree on Earth

The undisputed King of the Forest, the General Sherman Tree is not only the largest living tree in the world, but the largest living organism, by volume, on the planet. A giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), General Sherman is:
  • ~ 2,100 years old
  • ~ 2.7 million pounds
  • ~ 275 feet tall
  • ~ 100 feet wide at its trunk

How old is the Joshua tree?

about 900 years old

They do not have growth rings like true trees, so determining their age can be difficult, one Joshua tree in the Joshua Tree National Park has been estimated to be about 900 years old. There are two recognized sub species of Joshua trees: Yucca brevifolia brevifolia and Yucca brevifolia jaegeriana.
