This seems to be something in need of fixing.

Wealthy Americans are still ducking the IRS crackdown on non-filers

WASHINGTON — Tens of thousands of wealthy Americans are not complying with recently revamped Internal Revenue Service efforts to get them to file tax returns, according to data obtained exclusively by CNBC.

A quirk in federal tax law may be incentivizing wealthy people who want to avoid paying taxes to simply not file their returns. That’s because it’s a felony to file false tax returns but only a misdemeanor not to file a return at all.

And due to limited IRS and Department of Justice resources to pursue misdemeanor violations, a person who does not file a return is unlikely to face prosecution. As a result, many millionaires could simply be taking their chances, betting that they will face few consequences for not filing their tax returns.

The phrase, "one hand washing the other" comes to mind. Wait, that can't be right. Repubs are the party of the little guy now. ;)

Will Republicans fix it now that they have that control?

The law should be changed AND the IRS should receive the funding it needs to go after tax cheats. Repubs oppose the latter.

Why has QPJ allowed this to go on under his watch?

They should start with IRS employees who don't pay or file taxes.

"The rich are avoiding paying taxes." Within literally two posts you 'people' became so concerned with Republicans or Democrats doing or not doing this or that that you basically forgot about the problem itself. Uniparty wins again. Like clockwork. This is why the US is basically a dead country walking.

Jesus. I didn't think you would ever post something I agreed with but you actually did it.

You almost have to laugh that Biden spent four years trying to pay off the student loans of wealthy kids.

Replace income taxes with a flat consumption tax and balanced budget amendment.

How many millionaires did your source discover were not filing taxes because it’s only a misdemeanor?

It's lies and spin from CNBC. Wealthy people have accountants and they legally use companies that specialize in avoiding taxes. Wealthy people file every year. Biden's newly armed IRS agents were hired to go after the middle class who can't afford accountants and are easy pickings.
