The mid terms are on the way, and then another freaking presidential election season will begin. If the Republicans do well, or if the Democrats do well, that's up to the voters. Hopefully whichever party wins will suddenly realize we're a 50/50 country and will decide to start governing that way. For a change.

My only concern is if this aggressive, punitive, authoritarian administration is going to back off and let the voters have their say. We know the excuse for any of their meddling will be the "rigged election" that Trump claimed, months before the 2020 election even took place.

This is what I'm thinking about -- this can't happen:

Trump administration pushes states for election data, Washington Post reports

July 16 (Reuters) - The Trump administration and its allies are trying to obtain voter data from states and inspect voting equipment, the Washington Post reported on Wednesday, in moves it said had caused concern among state and local election officials.

The Post said "the most unusual activity" was taking place in Colorado, where it said a consultant who was working with the White House had asked county clerks whether they would let federal officials or a third party examine voting machines.

"That’s a hard stop for me," it quoted Carly Koppes, a Republican clerk in Colorado's Weld County, as saying. "Nobody gets access to my voting equipment, for security reasons."

The newspaper said the Justice Department had separately asked at least nine states for copies of their voter rolls, and that at least two have turned them over.

Bullshit, Mac. We have to have secure elections. Democrats cheated in 2020.
That can't be happening again, not for a long time. :nono:
Democrats have also been using illegals to pad their representation and electoral votes.
No more. Enough of the bullshit.

I never thought of this, but it one thing to rig an election that your adversary cannot dispute because you are kicked out of office, but when you are not kicked out of office, you are then free to pursue investigations.

Yea, that could be problematic.

I now understand your concern.

The View says that Trump won't allow elections, so problem solved.

Due to the "unusual" number of voters in 2020, more than in 2024, which never happens, I support an investigation into voter rolls and to see if any unusual voting patterns exist, precinct by precinct.

If there are no anomalies, such as many more voters in a precinct, then that settles it.

Funny how you start off by claiming it's 50/50 and then go into an anti-Trump/Republican tirade as if it is 100/0.

This site....https://www.democracydocket.com/....has a pretty comprehensive listing of the many ways trumpery is trying to subvert elections. The trump regime represents a full, frontal attack on almost every aspect of our democracy with the full support of The Following.

Much of President Donald Trump’s anti-voting executive order has been blocked by judges. But it’s having an impact nonetheless — by encouraging and emboldening state-level Republicans to pursue its anti-democratic goals.

The March executive order purported to direct the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to require documentary proof of citizenship on its voter registration forms, and to require state agencies registering voters to do the same. The order also aimed to pressure states to reject mail-in ballots received after election day, among other steps.

Courts quickly blocked those provisions, holding that Trump exceeded his executive authority in an area the Constitution left to the states and Congress. Other provisions of the order — including directives to make federal databases like the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) available to state election officials — were allowed to remain in effect.

But across the nation, GOP election officials and lawmakers are implementing much of the substance of Trump’s order — often describing strict new voting rules as efforts to comply with the presidential decree. And even before the order was issued, some states were already taking steps that closely mirror some of its key provisions.

Dems to Fight Texas’ ‘Illegal, Unconstitutional and Egregious Effort to Rig the Elections’

With Texas set to begin a special session that includes drawing a new congressional map next week, national Democrats say they’re exploring ways to stop the Republican plan.

The rare mid-decade redistricting push comes after President Donald Trump pressured Texas Republicans to redraw the state’s congressional map to help the party hold its slim majority in the House.

“All options will continue to be on the table as it relates to our efforts to push back legislatively and legally in Texas,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said at a Tuesday news conference.

Interesting, democrats always claim voter ID laws aren't needed because people provided proof of eligibility to vote when they register, but now you acknowledge that's not the case.
Also mail-in ballots after polls close should be rejected 100%, exception for deployed military, why would you not support such?

You have every right to be concerned.

Interesting, MAGAists constantly advocate for measures to fight virtually non-existent voter fraud while never showing any evidence it is a systemic problem. It's almost as though there is another agenda behind their efforts.

Voter Suppression

If there are no anomalies, such as many more voters in a precinct, then that settles it.
When mathematically improbable/impossible things happen, like someone pulling out a box of thousands of ballots all for just one candidate, or like you pointed out, a sharp increase in votes one election cycle that's not repeated the next one, it's worth a second look. I am very suspicious of those who insist there's nothing to look at in the face of that. They sound more like they don't want anyone looking too deep than anything else.

Funny how you start off by claiming it's 50/50 and then go into an anti-Trump/Republican tirade as if it is 100/0.
Over here in reality, I've talked about that since I've been on this board.

But don't let that get in the way of your ignorance.

Example from February 2020, when BIDEN was in office: (Bernie, Trump, and trying to look at the bright side of all this, post 23):

You start by looking for areas of agreement. I've pointed some out.

You also detach yourself from the binary "us vs. them" mentality that is paralyzing us. Concentrate on creating something new via collaboration, communication and innovation. Like our Constitution.

Maybe you should try being an "Independent Thinker" for a change.

It's not 50/50 anymore

President Trump moved the country to the right by 10 points on election night.

Now 6 months of President Trump having the most successful Presidency in history coupled with the dems hard shift further left - we are at 80/20

We can really only be sure that elections are secure if Democrats win.

Voter Suppression

It's telling that "voter suppression" shrieks greet virtually any effort to ensure fair and secure elections. Require voter ID? "Voter suppression!", even when ID's are provided free of charge and seriously, you can't really function in today's world without one. Purge deceased voters and those who no longer live in the area from the rolls? "Voter suppression!", even though leaving them there leaves it wide open for fraud. End ballot harvesting? You guessed it, "Voter suppression!", even though it only makes sense to require every voter to submit their own ballot, whether in person or remotely IF NECESSARY.

Basically, it amounts to asking why you would want to leave doors and windows open to fraud when you can just close them and give the voting populace assurance that they are actually voting in a fair and secure election.

You opened up possibilities of children to molested, raped. You did that. No excuses. Since you demand total perfection in your agendas as no one slips through the cracks. You created more cracks. Many more.
