This is John F. Kennedy’s economy! No wait, it’s Reagan’s...No, it’s Clinton’s.

The economies of every US state and DC, ranked from worst to best

It's always the same old Red State economic basket cases. The same fuked up Red State confederate policies.

And they have convinced themselves they can run the nation when they drag it down every single time they are in power. It may take awhile, but their failed policies will cause the damage to eventually show up.

Republicans maintain a fantasy that every President starts with an economic blank slate

Bush started with a surging economy
Obama started fighting off a depression
Trump started with a booming economy
Bush started with a reccession.
Well, except for the fact that the economy wasn’t in recession when Bush became president, sure.
icon_rolleyes.gif
Oh, yes it was reported on. It took about six years in the media, to discredit Bush. It won't happen with Trump! Trump will be our President till 2024! Then Pence and Haley till 2028!

You people are nuts. :cuckoo:

There was no recession when Bush was sworn in...

March 2001(I) - November 2001 (IV)

And it wasn't even declared a recession until November, 2001, so who knows what you're smokin', thinking it was "reported on." And even then, if not for 9.11, there might not have even been a recession.

If the state of the current economy doesn’t lie with the sitting POTUS couldn’t one make the retarded argument that all things happening were destined to happen based on happenings from decades or even centuries ago?
Sounds LibTardish as hell doesn’t it?
Of course the state of the economy is the responsibility of the current president. But if he is going to take credit for positive change then the %change needs to be reviewed and compared to past administrations. Wouldn’t you agree?
No, that’s fking stupid

Well if Trump is doing a better job than Obama, why is employment growing at the same pace under both presidents?

I give the sitting POTUS responsibility for everything that happens on their watch. So the present economy IS Trump's responsibility.

BUT, he only gets responsibility for how much it has improved/regressed since he took office AND for and trends he has set.

For instance, the U-3 was already very low and had been falling for years when Trump took office. So, while Trump gets credit for how much it is has dropped since he took office - he does not take credit for the trend of it falling because that trend was in progress when he took office.

One trend that he does get full credit for is the fiscal deficit over the roughly $585 billion it was when he took office.
https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/hist-fy2019.pdf Page 25
Now it apparently is exploding to (according to the CBO) well over $1 trillion.
THAT is Trump's responsibility as well.

Google what?? I already gave you the link to the NBER which shows there was no recession when Bush was sworn in. And despite your protests, imadumbfuckingconservative.com is not a viable substitute for the NBER.

Google it, the recession of 2001. You're retarded if you think it wasn't reported.

'The technical indicator of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by a country's gross domestic product (GDP)'

Recession

united-states-gdp-growth.png

United States GDP Growth Rate | 1947-2018 | Data | Chart | Calendar

These are government statistics from the BEA.

As you can see, though there were two quarters of contraction in 2001...they were not consecutive.

Therefore - IMO - there was no technical recession in 2001.

Just sayin'....

Presidents have only minimal and temporary effects on the economy. Trump gave huge tax cuts which has brought a lot of money into play, but when that money is spent........? Stocks, and housing have been jacked up from Feds QE, but now with QT and raising rates will have the opposite effect. Economic growth is going to be hard to find 2019-2021 with higher rates and less money.

There was no recession until March, 2001. And it wasn’t declared official until November, 2001. And even then, there might not have been a recession at all if not for 9.11, according to the NBER.

But according to morons like you, that means Bush inherited a recession. :eusa_doh:

That means Trump is doing way better than Obama.

Reducing the unemployment rate when it is already below 5% is fairly difficult to do even once, much less multiple times with rising interest rates. Even Bush’s good employment periods never got under 4.5% unemployment.

That’s funny coming from the right.... who credited Reagan with the economy until 2000.

I give the Republican Congress credit for balancing the budget in the 1990s.
