I think you're suggesting too, that the R's want Trump and DeSantis to make friends?

That would have to be on Trump's terms exclusively and it would then have to cause DeSantis to drop out of the running for the crown. Do you really think those two conditions could be fulfilled?

For now at least, I think DeSantis would be a fool to quit. Trump could be finished.

The possibilities for Trump and DeSantis to peacefully coexist within the party could be interesting!

I'm not sure the GOP leadership wants them to be friends. I know they hate Trump with a passion, not because of his style or personality, but because he showed them up so badly in how to get good things done. And I am not as certain, but I suspect there are behind the scene whispers of how to neutralize the very very popular Ron DeSantis who might seek to take the place of one of their own.

I appreciate what both DeSantis and Trump have accomplished though and I have always put results and accomplishments ahead of personality and style. If there are a lot of folks like me out there, I think all of us would like for DeSantis and Trump to be friends. Personally I would hate to see DeSantis run in two years knowing how terribly he would be savaged. He is still very young, and unless he has a bullet proof support team around him, it could ruin him. Let him finish out his second term as governor and I think he might be in a better position to weather what they'll try to do to him.

Just as everyone believed and rightly so, that the red wave should have happened, I think that their beliefs should have materialized. Something is very wrong, especially when you see zombie's being elected that have terrible record's, and have been extremist that served no one but their close allies, otherwise to hell with the majority of the working class citizen's in this country.

A house divided cannot stand. The GOP as a whole is in a minority to the Democrats. And when you have the old guard McConnell/McCarthy GOP in an almost adversarial relationship with passionate Patriots, it is off putting, even a turnoff for those on the fence. Republicans and Patriots spent more time criticizing and complaining about each other and making vulgar or snarky attacks against Democrats than they did promoting the MAGA vision.

Even Trump didn't help preaching to the choir and spending most of the time talking about the Jan 6 Commission, the 2020 election, the sins of the Democrats, and how good his policies were instead of promoting that MAGA vision for our future. The enthusiastic rally goers loved it but even though the crowds were massive, they represent a tiny percentage of the electorate. And the media was able to use that to encourage people to turn off. And his snarky comments about DeSantis turned off a lot of Patriots who were in his corner.

We on the right have to learn how to discuss our differences amicably and otherwise pull in harness as one as the Democrats do, or we'll never win another election. We have the superior track record and the superior vision and goals. But if we squander that, the Democrats win.
