Kirk was not right. That's the problem. The only people who have ever used race to excuse shortcomings have been you right-wing MAGATS. That includes Kirk, who dropped out of Jr. College and the only way he was able to make money was by peddling white racism.

I graduated from Juco. I graduated from university. I graduated from grad school. None of these things are shortcoming. There was nothing disingenuous about this amd none of the things were bulshit. Kirk was a racist. Again, if that wasn't who he was, then he would not have made the comment. And then there are several other similar comments he made. So stop being white and looking for ways to deny racism.

So now it's not racist to say that if I see a black pilot, I hope he is qualified. All you have to do to claim plausible deniability is 2 sentences later say that's not you and that's good enough for some white people to deny that it was racist.

Kirk didn't say that if he saw a pilot that he would hope he was qualified; he made it clear that he would only question the qualifications of a black pilot. But that's not racist.

It's amazing just how far some whites will go to lie to themselves.

It's definitely possible Kirk had racist views, and I'm happy to condemn those views. But I'm curious, would that change the situation at all? Does it justify his assassination? Do people have a right to express views that you consider racist?

Views I consider racist? I think that the views Kirk held were universally held as racist. Now, the thing here is that the right needs to condemn these views. Perhaps if they had condemned them, Kirk would still be alive.

That's not how I see it, but it's the dishonest way you want to play things. No one should be empowered to push racist ideology. Had some people been decent enough to tell Kirk what he was expressing was wrong and unacceptable, instead of yes, Charlie you have the freedom to say racist a nd sexist things about others whenever you feel like it, and everybody who objects is wrong, he might still be alive right now
