For a long time, the word "Negro" was used to describe black people.

Then they use the term "Colored"... because they thought it was less offensive.

Then we went with Black.

Now the popular term is "African-American".

Initially, it was meant to describe a woman who was promiscuous. Using it to describe someone who was "Happy" came later. Then the homosexual community adopted it. Teens tried to hijack it a few years ago as a pejorative, but I think the PC Police got them.
