I just read this. Never would I have thought this was a thing but, apparently, it is:


Wimbledon tennis balls are treated very delicately before use.

Every ball must be kept at exact 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Higher temps cause the gas molecules inside the ball expand, making the ball bounce higher.

Wimbeldon goes through more than 50,000 balls every year because of this practice.


So, there you go. That's a thing you know now...
 
Easy fix.....................poke a hole in the ball.

I wonder how many MILLIONS of tax dollars are spent on this "practice".

That explains a lot. It's been over 100 here for days on end & mine are like volleyballs in a pillow case
