My guess as to the reason that the large rise in transgender teens is primarily female to male transgeder ideation is because there have always been "tomboys," who were allowed to grow out of it unmolested by agendized adults. Now, there is no way, a girl will wear boyish clothes and play games with the boys in a public school and not have one or more teachers make the leap that she must be transgender. That is the true beginning of the transitioning process, the process of convincing the child that are transgender, not just a little different from most children of their sex.

If those school staff were accepting of differences instead of trying to force everyone into their binary view of behavoir, children would be better off.
