Theories of Violent Crime Rise in America

Remember the private armies that killed striking coal miners?

Have a little humility.
Again. What is your point? That you can point to an immoral act or acts that happened in the past and say see there the whole society and or time period was immoral? Do you think we couldn't do that about this point in history or any and every country/society on the planet? Certainly, the future will be able to look back and do that. I guess Im at a loss as to what that accomplishes. No one is saying that, at insert point in history, nothing was immoral and everything was great if only we went back to that point and adopted everything that was going on we would be a moral society. If anyone has said that I've missed it. What has been said (again that I've read) is that there are things that were better, so what were they doing that was better than what we are doing that we might be able improve this point in history and our society. How fucking arrogant do you have to be to think that everything we are doing now is better than everything that's ever been done? Or that we cant do better and be analyzing what's worked in the past is one way to get better. Talk about needing to get some humility.

In the 1960s, those seeking attention looked for someone to assassinate…….JFK, MLK, Malcolm X, RFK, John Lennon

After Columbine, those seeking attention looked for a high body count not a famous name

I think it has more to do with famous people having better protection, and the social media capability of any person with a computer....that and the 24/7 news coverage.....

Today, you don't have to follow a famous person's schedule to plan an attack.....or deal with private or professional security...you walk into a mall....

And even then...in a country of over 330 million people......

10 mass public shootings in 2019

12 in 2018

2 in 2020.....

These nuts are not our biggest problem.

They are also trying to derail the thread and throw off analyzing the truth about these shootings...

There’s always been attention seekers. But now the value of human life is zero in the minds of many. See #1.

There have always been attention seekers but they didn't have immediate access to social media, 24/7 news coverage and a press that wants to glorify them for ratings and attacks against gun ownership....

That is one part of the regular gun crime issue.....

1) the democrat party attacking our police

2) the democrat party releasing known, violent gun criminals over and over again..

What this thread deals with is nuts who walk into public places to murder innocent strangers.......

Here is the actual numbers going to 1982....as a base of reference....

US mass shootings, 1982–2021: Data from Mother Jones’ investigation

Dating back to at least 2005, the FBI and leading criminologists essentially defined a mass shooting as a single attack in a public place in which four or more victims were killed. We adopted that baseline for fatalities when we gathered data in 2012 on three decades worth of cases.
-------

  • Here is a description of the criteria we use:
    • The perpetrator took the lives of at least four people. A 2008 FBI report identifies an individual as a mass murderer—versus a spree killer or a serial killer—if he kills four or more people in a single incident (not including himself), typically in a single location. (*In 2013, the US government’s fatality baseline was revised down to three; our database reflects this change beginning from Jan. 2013, as detailed above.)
    • The killings were carried out by a lone shooter. (Except in the case of the Columbine massacre and the Westside Middle School killings, which involved two shooters.)
    • The shootings occurred in a public place. (Except in the case of a party on private property in Crandon, Wisconsin, and another in Seattle, where crowds of strangers had gathered, essentially constituting a public crowd.) Crimes primarily related to gang activity or armed robbery are not included, nor are mass killings that took place in private homes (often stemming from domestic violence).
    • Perpetrators who died or were wounded during the attack are not included in the victim tallies.
    • We included a handful of cases also known as “spree killings“—cases in which the killings occurred in more than one location, but still over a short period of time, that otherwise fit the above criteria.
    ----------------------
Our research focused on indiscriminate rampages in public places resulting in four or more victims killed by the attacker. We exclude shootings stemming from more conventionally motivated crimes such as armed robbery or gang violence. (Or in which the perpetrators have not been identified.) Other news outlets and researchers have since published larger tallies that include a wide range of gun crimes in which four or more people have been either wounded or killed. While those larger datasets of multiple-victim shootings are useful for studying the broader problem of gun violence, our investigation provides an in-depth look at a distinct phenomenon—from the firearms used and mental health factors to the growing copycat problem. Tracking mass shootings is complex; we believe ours is the most useful approach for studying this specific phenomenon.

The actual number of mass shootings from Mother Jones......

Here you go...the number of mass public shootings according to Mother Jones...rabid, anti gun, left wing news source.....not the NRA...

The list below comes from the old definition of 4 killed to make a shooting a mass shooting...if you now go to the link there are more than listed below...but that is because Mother Jones changed the list from the time I first posted it...and changed to obama's new standard of only 3 dead to make a mass shooting...

What gets muddled in the numbers are the gang related and murder the family crimes. I’m not aware of any data that lists just the target strangers crimes, yet that is the critical issue.

The one from Mother JOnes.......they use the FBI definition that exludes gangs and family murder...which is why the list is so small and why the democrats in the press don't use it......

Stop.....this isn't a thread about the democrat party and its history....

Yet it is TODAYS Republican Party defending the Confederacy and resurrecting the Know Nothings and John Birch Society

No......todays Republicans are defending the Constitution and the Bill of Rights while the democrat party is trying to resegregate the country by race.....
Were they defending the Constitution when they attacked the Capitol?

Call us when the Confederacy or John Birchers pose a threat to you.
Meanwhile Leftists are murdering Americans every day in great numbers.

Call me when Democrats from 150 years ago are a threat to you

TODAYS Republican Party attacked the Capitol and are assaulting our Democracy

blm and antifa from the democrat party burned and looted and killed citizens for 7 months....and they burned court houses and police stations and actually set up their own autonomous zones in our cities...actual insurrections...

The Leftards burned down a lot of black owned businesses in 2020 also. KKK just sits home cheering them on from the comfort of their couch.

Both are defended by TODAYS Republicans

No.......of the two parties, the only one defending segregation and separate but equal is the democrat party...as they push separate graduations, neighborhoods, businesses......they didn't change what they believe, they just lie about it more.
