The Worst Presidents in History

While I agree with most of what you said, he was about the only one in government pleading for congress to do something about the coming recession. He tried to get them to do something.
This is true. Bush repeatedly warned that Freddie and Fannie were going to cause a housing crash by buying/guaranteeing far too many sub-prime mortgages. The Democrats said Freddie and Fannie were just fine, that Bush was exaggerating Freddie and Fannie's exposure. The rest is history.

You really are the King of Bullshit.

SMH I was a teenager and I remember this shit. Only thing is, republicans had no interest in fixing the incoming disaster either.

"The Wealthy"? Is that some socialist blog or is it Russian disinformation propaganda? Was that a photo of William Henry Harrison on the far right? Where does FDR, Harry Truman and LBJ come out in the list?

GWBush WH Archives.....

Any mention of Weapons of Mass Destruction in that story?

How would you rate George Washington and Thomas Jefferson?
Washington was one of the greats, Jefferson was a brilliant man, but as shown by the Embargo, a poor president although the Louisiana Purchase was a masterpiece of forethought,

Thought never a president of the USA is able to be more worse as had been George W. Bush. Then came Donald Trump the 1st (="prince") . And then came king Dagobert Trump.

Santa for president! Presents for everyone!

God you are fucking pathetic. Its a government website.

The mental gymnastics one must perform in order to give credit to the man who, on his watch, oversaw a financial meltdown that affected the entire world in 2008 and say, now, that it was him trying to save us from what what he did.

Interdasting.

You blamed him and deregulation which is what he was fighting against. You retarded dumbfuck. HE WANTED MORE REGULATION. Read something for once in your life.

You really are the King of *&^&%$.
Uh, actually, Bush's warnings about Freddie and Fannie and subprime mortgages are a matter of record. He gave one of them during a State of the Union address. He also backed a 2006 bill introduced in the Senate that would have curbed Freddie and Fannie's exposure on subprime mortgages and reformed their dubious bookkeeping methods. Gee, guess which party blocked that bill? Take a guess.

Guess he didn't want to be known as the President who started a disastrous war and oversaw a worldwide economic collapse.

Didn't work out like he hoped it would.

I agree with you about the disastrous war. The Iraq War was an inexcusable, senseless blunder. It was the main reason I did not vote for either Bush or Kerry in 2004.

I don't agree that Bush "oversaw a worldwide economic collapse." Bush tried hard to impose more regulation on Freddie and Fannie and to curb subprime loan guarantees. If his warnings and proposals had been heeded and adopted, the housing collapse and the resulting financial crisis would have been much less severe. Indeed, with a sharp reduction in subprime mortgage guarantees, the housing crisis may have been avoided, which in turn would have taken most of the bite out of the financial crisis.

Bush was afraid of being called a racist for curbing subprime mortgages, and hoped the meltdown wouldn't happen on his watch. Regardless of the merits, the Iraq war could have been a beneficial excuse for the U.S. to establish a major military base in the region. Instead, Bush wanted to engage in (misguided) nation-building, which Obama made sure to destroy.

But Bush did try to curb subprime mortgages via his proposals to reform GSEs (Freddie, Fannie) and the FHA, and he issued many warnings about the need for this reform.

Do you think Trump would have let Rome burn?
