The Woke Right

I'm not sure the progs have any armed militia ready for an uprising, but they could ..... Still, I think both maga and prog camps are focused on denying that either the other have any legitimate interests or needs.
I'm happy to address legitimate interests. What are they exactly? I see you mentioned inflation and I don't know many progressives who deny it's affects, I think maybe we just disagree on the cause.

Their armed militias are a phone call away.

Remember that O'Keefe video of the Hillary operative bragging all he has to do is pick up the phone?
He was fired after that.

Pretty much every country had somewhat similar post covid inflation, and I believe most saw changes in elections.

That link illustrates some of the failures of the Biden admin, although I'd note that Trump said he'd have an even bigger stimulus to the dems' round three, which the gop wanted nothing to do with. Now we only have one gop, Trump, although some gopers in the senate may not play nicely with him.

Biden was not forced into giving money for women to have more babies (six k annually for each popper, I think), and that third stimulus (along with the gop's giveaways to failing businesses) was pouring gas on a fire, and they just delayed the impact of fed rate hikes.

Trump's a charlaton. His fingerprints are all over inflation. But he wasn't potus. Nor did he open the borders. Nor did he wage a war with his proxy without winning it. Kids can't buy homes, even if they work and avoid hand outs. The econ is in an awful place.

I refuse to play your game of one good, one bad. They both suck.

I wouldn't chatacterize Biden as progressive. To combat the effects of inflation government spending should be offset but cuts in spending elsewhere (like the military budget) and/or tax increases, preferably on the wealthy and corporations.

That's "W" for Trump WON!

A couple of conservative Brits discuss the Woke Right with an American conservative. And just like many lefties are against the PC/Identity Politics crap that has caused so much damage to the party, he sees that "Wokeism" is counter-productive on the Right as well.

His definition of Woke Right includes:
  • Since this comes from the Right, he calls it "Woke Neo-Fascism", which makes sense
  • They behave exactly like the Woke Left...
    • Targeted influence campaigns
    • Create the illusion that there's massive distaste for this or that
    • Social Media manipulation
    • Highly invested in Reactionary Identity Politics, "answering evil with evil, which the Bible says not to do, by the way"
    • Grievance, everything is bad for straight white Christian men
    • We're the oppressed minority
    • Convinced the elites are trying to marginalize and de-legitimize them
    • Lots of lying, character attacks, lots of manipulative speech
    • Critical of America -- America bad, America bad, America bad
Sure sounds familiar.

What is the Woke Right?

Why are you concerned with the right when it's the left that is shaping culture, and prevalent in every media platform out there? 🤡

What makes James Lindsay a 'conservative', other than he says he is?

I'm concerned with either side using the government to dictate societal norms. If most media platforms are culturally left, so be it. It's not for government to decide.

I know it might come as a shock to you, but there's nothing further left or 'woke' than DC and its inhabitants.

See, just more cheerleaders. Did they just not get the telegrams? Were they too young to notice both LBJ and Nixon waging elective wars with kids for political purposes, even though both were armchair warriors? Doesn't fucking matter. Cause W and Obama did the same. Did they notice? Did Trump end afghanistan? Well, he would of but some of us were a bit pissed when he invited the Taliban for MickeyD's and fucking Camp David.

The last time one of these pissants who manage to get elected showed some fucking balls was when Obama, as a state senator, actually stood up and said STOP before W started this insanity. Of course, both he and Biden and Hillary too were all fine with afghanistan in his first term. So, perhaps, Trump is no worse.

I'm concerned with both.
The Founders "founded" (-: our society on the belief that people would want to be seen as "good" or successful by fellow citizens. That's fundamental not just to Locke, who was more or less sectarian, as well as Calvin and the presbyterians, who figured that even though God damned most of us to hell before we were born, we'd want to look like God loved us and wanted us to be among the few saved. lol

Now we disagree on how to get schools to not let gay and transgender KIDS get bullied. Of course there's no lack of funding for pols on either side.

Nixon and LBJ both served in the Navy in WWII.

The thing about Afghanistan was that everyone kind of agreed it was a "war of Necessity". The problem there was that no one wanted to admit that most Afghans were just fine with the Taliban and the people we supported were seen as a bunch of corrupt quislings.

There's serve and serve. They were tourists. Compare and contrast JFK and Ford.

And nation building in afghan was not "necessity" be it by W or Obama ... or Trump.

LBJ, you could argue, was a tourist. Nixon actually served in theatre for years.

I agree that Nation-building was ill-advised in Afghanistan. We didn't understand the culture.

yeah, you don't get to choose your assignment (or those are the rules) and Nixon complied with rules and did his duty.

A tragically flawed and very talented president. I admit to prejudice as I sought to not participate in his war. Although I didn't have a tame doctor and just plain got lucky.

While I agree that there are some--a minority--on the right guilty of any or all of the items on the list, I think it is gaslighting to classify all or most of that as 'woke'.
