Hence, we have the 9-0 ruling by the Court that the IRS must turn over Donald Trump's tax returns. Specifically, the Petitioner (congressional committee) asserts that it wants Trump's tax returns to use them to assess possible future changes to the Internal Revenue Code.

This assertion is patently and obviously false, and the individual Justices of the USSC know this - they are not idiots - but they cannot refuse the Committee because the assertion is part of the Record, and that justification is sufficient.

We all know that the Committee wants the returns to identify possible tax evasion, to find points on which they can embarrass or slander the said taxpayer, or to launch yet another "investigation" which they would want to last until well into the 2024 primary season. How many hours will go by from the time when the returns arrive with the Committee until embarrassing details are leaked to the NYT? 24? Less?

I agree with you. For me I would desire to see the IRS totally defunded & FULLY investigated for past/present corruption. Replace IRS with a national sales tax @ a one time permanently fixed rate(11-17%???). Do any of you remember how President Clinton was abused in the press for taking a tax deduction when he donated his used underwear to charity? It happened. All perfectly legal, and they LIKED Clinton.

The purpose of this exercise is to find things in his returns that they can use to embarrass him, legal or not.
