Ukraine cited force majeure to halt the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the Donbass, as Gazprom said this violates their contract

Is this a smart move by Ukraine or is it a smart move by America. Is there any doubt that the Ukraine will be coached on making this move?

And interesting in that another thread asked the same question on Russia turning off the gas!

Is it insignificant or is this move taking the war to another level. I would suggest the former, with an explanation.
