Armitage appears to be about as smart as National Security Director James Clapper.

The only reason nobody pressed charges against Armitage was because they fired him before anyone caught wind of this sham. They needed an active member of the Bush Administration, not a former member to beat over the head.

Why Armitage's role in disclosing Plame's identity to (Robert)Novak was not pursued has never been explained.
