Regardless of who and if any political figure takes the stance of screening foreigners for moral character, I'd be very suspect and uncomfortable with the practice.

I'm all for screening for criminal activity, as it is objective. Moral character on the other hand is subjective and in the sphere of politics, it most certainly exhibits the picture of a double standard being played by both sides.
