The liberal versus conservative paradigm is buffoonery of political science and basic intellect .People have said it before, and it needs to be said again. Liberalism is a disease.
There is a LOT of pressure by classmates and teachers/counselors for the students to assume an alternate/odd/perverted sexual identity that they really don't own.I have a couple of students who went "trans" in the last few years. Not in elementary school, but later. I wonder about this all the time. Were/are they really trans, or did they just hop on board a trend?
If that latter, that's an extreme trend. In the 80s we just had big hair and wore legwarmers.
There is a LOT of pressure by classmates and teachers/counselors for the students to assume an alternate/odd/perverted sexual identity that they really don't own.
So when the students wish to rebel against their authority figures the students choose "they/them/trans" as a part of their sexual identity....
Meaning they really don't want to have sex or connect with anyone in a sexual manner. They will dress in the most unattractive manner possible with the ugliest hair style and color imaginable.
Also for many of these students they FEEL like achieving an intimate friendship/romantic relationship is beyond their capability and they wish to license/explain their self-perceived "failure" not to spending too much time trying to connect over text messages on social media but on themselves personally due to being in a sexual minority and having a lack of options. LGBTQ are the "lauded heroes" of the day receiving extra privileges, support, and attention.
Of course there's the instances of some sort of neglect or abuse going on with the kids too.
Each child is of course an individual so it's going to depend upon their unique circumstances.
It's one of those things where parenting and mentoring are failing these kids in some fashion.
Actually,I was going to say it's sad but I think it's beyond that to tragic, actually.
Actually,
You can help the situation.
You can begin to make your students interact on a face to face basis in controlled setting (classrooms) in a much more personal level by Actually having to talk to each other face to face...express their individual ideas to each other....(within confines of lessons) and do all the things that people normally do like make mistakes and have moments of brilliance.
It helps break that "electronic" medium barrier that has been imposed upon them by cell phones and social media.
And I'd do it by mixing boys and girls.
