The Tea Party had a major influence in the midterms. Their ground work helped to reconfigure the House and Senate. The work that they put in changed everything said a democrat senator that asked not to be named. He went further saying that if the DNC doesn't get a handle on this and begin to compete on the ground the GOP will own all three branches of Government in 2016
