The truth is they want to pull as many students out of public schools where they learn science, evolution, and critical thinking, and put them in religious schools where snakes talk and science is a hoax. They can't SAY that but it is what they intend to do. They have to hide who they are and what they believe because it loses in the open air of public debate.

They see the grip Christianity has on the society slipping away and they can't fight it because the discoveries made by educated people are nearly impossible to refute, other than in the conservative bubble. And that conservative bubble is shrinking daily through deaths and the demographics of the population changing.

I went to a private school. Really, it isn't hard at all to improve upon the public school! The PS is not there to give you a good education, just insure you are minimally educated enough to (originally) work in the factories. Unfortunately, my father still had to pay taxes to the country, then pay my high tuition as well. Most people would opt out of the PS if they could, obviously, our senators, etc., can easily afford to. Everyone should have that choice---- the reason why they fight it is if made too easily available, they are afraid that so many would opt for private education that the PS system would collapse! And maybe it should because the schools are nut-farms ruining the minds and lives of our kids. Then where would all the good democratic-voting teachers unions be? But the other side of the coin so often overlooked is that government jobs are supposed to be jobs of SERVICE not profit. No one should make so much money working for the government that they get wealthy. That simply conflicts with the basic nature of what public service should be about where you live off the labours of the taxpayer. People were supposed to go into government work as a /service/ to the public, for a few years, then go back to their regular work, not to get a cushy job that paid really big bucks with huge benefits that they could make a career out of!
