First of all, there is no such thing as a socialist paradise, never was and never will be. True, there are a few socialist democracies such as Sweden, but they are more capitalist than socialist and in fact will take umbrage if accused of being socialist. BUT - in those countries, EVERYBODY pays high taxes, not just the wealth or even the top 10%. EVERYBODY pays; now if the socialist democrats in the US can get the voting public to support that, then so be it. But, my guess is that ain't going to happen, not unless those same socialist democrats lie like hell about the true cost of what they want to do and lie even more about the higher taxes it will take to pay for it. Show me the democrat who is calling for a VAT (consumption tax) of around 25%; that's what they pay in Sweden and other Soc/Dem countries.
Obviously, the democrats won't do that, it's certain death come election time cuz NOBODY is going to vote for that. So, they lie and tell us they will pay for all this stuff by only taxing the rich and the big corps. Which is another lie; first of all, you can't raise taxes on the rich enough to pay for all the stuff the Soc/Dems want, and truth be told when you raise taxes on the big corps they just raise their prices to cover it. Guess who ends up actually paying for that tax hike? The customers and the employees. But the Soc/Dems won't tell you that either.
One other point: just because something works in Sweden does not mean it will work here. Go read about what happened there in the 1970s and 80s when they went too far Left and fucked up their economy. Then read about what they did to reverse the damage. Yea, they went back to free market capitalism, or some form of it.
