There is very little consideration of the past on how guns and people who owned them behaved before 1980.

The problem with school shootings is societal

By Toby Ranley

Excerpt:

Society has changed dramatically since I was young. Back in the 1950s, before drug culture, before technology and video games, before the welfare state and rampant single parenthood and, yes, before legal abortion devalued human life, there were riflery classes after school. Students walked into their high school carrying rifles, put them in their lockers, went to classes, and pulled them out for the “sport” they were learning as an extra-curricular activity. The kids learned to shoot, learned gun safety, and nobody worried about school shootings, which simply didn’t happen. I don’t know when that activity ended, certainly long before any of our kids hit high school but, clearly, the idea would shock people these days.

They started doing chores at a young age. They didn’t get mollycoddled, driven to school, helicoptered. The kids made choices, and we guided them but left them the freedom to develop their own interests and find their own motivation to succeed. If they slept in on a school day, they still walked to school. They learned to rely on themselves to get up and leave earlier the next day—or suffer the consequences.

This part cannot be emphasized enough.

Less of them also.

The cradle to grave mentality of the left destroys everything it touches. No one is taught personal responsibility. This goes back to basic parenting skills and the destruction of the core family, faith, and friendships we cultivated. Now were so busy looking into our digital devices we have no responsibility or personal interactions to build upon.

The welfare state, telling dads they can't stay in the home or federal help is pulled, many of these things contributed to this decay and most of them were pushed by the left-wing socialists who wanted control over the populace. Morals and your faith were directly attacked as the state seeks to be GOD... Lots of things we allowed contributed to this.

I used to walk nearly a mile and half round trip every day to Elementary School
then Junior High School and back finally had to take the Bus for High School as it was too far away for walking.

I was the full-time mower and watering the yard boy of a big yard starting about age 8 to age 16 when house was sold took out the big metal trash can that I dragged about 50 feet to the street from the back yard around age 8, swept the long basement stairs every weekend as a kid for years to the sale of the house at age 16.

Yes, Kids DO need to be part of the home workforce early on a benefit they realize years later.

This is what I keep pointing out. It's not the accessibility of guns that is the problem. They have always been accessible. It's the gross decay and deterioration of American society.

The democrats have been striving unrelentingly for many decades to achieve just that.

Guns are not the problem. Gun culture is the problem.

. It's the gross decay and deterioration of American society.
That's what I keep pointing out too.

How about a study of how America's war time relates to gun violence? Is there a correlation?

The current war being peculiar in that it's a proxy war that could have adverse effects on the population.

I won't pursue my position here for today because it's going to be more interesting to see how this discussion evolves without my input. Good luck on accomplishing something!

No one is taught personal responsibility.
And they will try as hard as they can to make YOU responsible for their choices.

I had to stop inviting my leftist friend over to use our pool, even though her children loved it, because she allowed them to swim unattended, leaving their welfare to me. If the non-swimmer had drowned because her mom ignored her, I would have been sued bigger than shit.

Just get them out of your life because they haven't a clue that you're NOT there to take care of them.

Has anyone noticed that the Uvalde incident is a close copy of the Sandy Hook murders by Adam Lanza?

Killing the mother figure, rushing into a school and barricading himself in a locked classroom and killing a lot of kids. Lanza killed everyone in there, which is why the police commander probably didn't think there was anyone left alive in there. He could see it was a copycat crime.

These kids used to study Columbine, now they are studying Sandy Hook, apparently.

Yes, I agree the society has been destabilized. I myself don't think there is a way back at this point. It's been destabilized by the pushing forward of blacks so that the cities are all crime-ridden and nothing makes sense that people say; and by the flooding in of illegals from very different, very bad cultures. Societies HAVE to be homogeneous to survive, and we aren't any more, so we won't survive. Too bad. I can remember when it was a good country.

I noticed that as well. The bigger elephant in the room is the mental Illness being pushed off as transgenderism. These people are always unstable, mocked, and often humiliated by bullies in front of their peers. This guy however, became that bully and was openly mocking those types of people for fun as that was his only release and ability to gain friends. I would bet this kid had a multiple personality disorder as well (schizophrenia). From reports, this kid was mutilating animals for fun. There were so many flags that this kid was a ticking time bomb.

This is being done on purpose. They want us to collapse. ITs the only way they can remove our constitution.

With respect, I don't agree that it's a conspiracy by "them," whomever they are supposed to be.

Lots and lots and lots of societies have destabilized and vanished in a civil war or outsider war or revolution (well, all, really. Nothing lasts forever.). Preferring poor people destabilized Rome more than once before the final fall due to illegals flooding in. We've got both at once, can't survive all that, IMO. Going left is a common destabilizer: the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution.

But there are lots of reasons, such as fighting off a colonial master power (America and India, same colonial power both times), major plague (the Black Death is only one and now we have the extreme reponse to Covid).

I think societies start screwing up bad and sometimes they recover but sometimes they hit a perfect storm as we have with leftism, illegals, and crime and Covid, and they disintegrate. I expect we'll break up into several parts: people have been predicting that for decades, after all.

This can be saved if we get Trump back and were actively throw the leftists out of power. IF, we return to our religious roots and put God, Faith, and Family at our core again, we can survive this. IF we do not, it's over. The left knows this, this is why they are trying like hell to place CRT and transgenderism into the main stream. IF our young are taught respect and morals we can pull this thing out of the nose dive we are in.
