Obama's 'average' was skewed due to the horrendous housing crash of 2007 triggering a deep recession that Obama inherited.
Obama can't be credited for the recession (nor can Bush who did everything he could to get the Democrat controlled Congress to act to prevent it.) Obama can be credited for the slowest recovery from a recession since FDR and, because of Obamacare, more than 90% of the new jobs created under Obama were part time and/or temporary jobs with few or no benefits.
Trump tax and regulatory reforms, including rolling back some of the worst aspects of Obamacare, created not only a booming economy but historically low unemployment rates for most demographics.
His record is completely skewed when most of the work force was ordered off work in 2020 due to the pandemic and kept off work for far too long mostly due to state, not federal, policies. And the dishonest credit Trump for all those lost jobs in 2020 and give Biden credit for new jobs when all those people were allowed to go back to jobs they already had.
These graphs illustrate far more accurate assessment of the record of each President re unemployment:
A summary of U.S. unemployment rates by presidency, from Harry S. Truman to Donald J. Trump (1948-2020).
