The Pornography Plague

Pornography is tearing apart the very fabric of our society. Yet Christians are often ignorant of its impact and apathetic about the need to control this menace.

Pornography is an $8 billion a year business with close ties to organized crime.(1) The wages of sin are enormous when pornography is involved. Purveyors of pornography reap enormous profits through sales in so-called "adult bookstores" and viewing of films and live acts at theaters.

Pornography involves books, magazines, videos, and devices and has moved from the periphery of society into the mainstream through the renting of video cassettes, sales of so-called "soft-porn" magazines, and the airing of sexually explicit movies on cable television. To some, pornography is nothing more than a few pictures of scantily-clad women in seductive poses. But pornography has become much more than just photographs of nude women.

Nearly 900 theaters show pornographic films and more than 15,000 "adult" bookstores and video stores offer pornographic material. Adult bookstores outnumber McDonald's restaurants in the United States by a margin of at least three to one.(2) In 1985, nearly 100 full-length pornographic films were distributed to "adult" theaters providing estimated annual box office sales of $50 million.(3)

As anyone with half a brain can see, Terrorists come from countries with a very strict control on pornography, like f.e. Saudi Arabia or Iran.
It also correlates with restrictive dress codes.
Therefore, Pornography must be aggressivly spread over the world, and anyone who opposes this is a supporter of Moslem Terrorism!

try making a coherent argument with resorting to ad hominems before you post.

No it's not; certainly not anymore than fighting over superstions is. :eusa_pray:

Christians can be ignorant of ALOT of things, so this is no surprise.

Maybe if it was not so heavily regulated by superstitious blue laws organized crime would not find it so profitable to be involved in. :eusa_shifty:

I thought the wages of sin were "death," rather than $8 Billion a year. :eusa_eh:

It has apparently become a rallying cry for the obnoxious. :eusa_angel:

Maybe if churches offered porn and hamburgers, instead of sanctimonious judgment and guilt more people would be interested in showing up. :D

I have two questions for you CB:
1. What is the point of your post?
2. If your point is that that porn has a corrosive effect on society then what do you think about rap videos that make women out to be sex objects? Would that part of the Pornography Plague or not?

Don't Forget These:
3. Erectile Disfunction ads.
4. Sitcoms.
5. Big Brother and other 'reality' shows.
6. American 'False Gods' (AKA Idol)
...

I love pornography and there is nothig wrong with watching it, it helps me immensely when I'm jerking off which is about three times daily or when me and my girlfriend do have sex. It doesn't make people more criminal or more likely to rape.

Don't forget the biggest porn book in the country:

The christian bible!

It's only a plague if you don't like porn!

I think of it as more of a cornucopia.

*nod* I agree ... but then I don't agree. I don't like having sex, but I see nothing wrong with people enjoying themselves with porn. Better than making more babies we'll have to get rid of in the future.
