But it’s outside of military contexts that weaponize has really proliferated in the last decade. We’ve weaponized: women, architecture, black suffering, anthropology, the facts, texting, femininity, marketing, secularism, religion, ideology, traditional forms of dress, virtue, sadness, social constructions, iWatches, and fictional experiences in video games. The word, of course, has enjoyed glibber applications: Writers have weaponized everything from flatulence to kale salads. Federal law enforcement is a bureaucracy and the unstated mission of a bureaucracy is to get bigger and get more funding. The federal government has oversight responsibility for federal law enforcement but for the most part the ATF and the FBI are on their own with little or no supervision from the people through their elected representatives. The ATF targeted an innocent American during the republican George HW Bush administration and ultimately murdered Randy Weaver's son and his wife. The same agents were promoted and went on to Waco Tx. where about 80 men, women and children died during the Clinton administration. Amazingly the Obama administration approved an insane plan developed by the ATF where thousands of illegal firearms would be (illegally) shipped to Mexican drug cartels. Nobody in the Obama administration was charged or even fired when one of the weapons surfaced in the murder of a Border Patrol Officer. The system hasn't changed.

The Bureau was weaponized against liberals from the day it was born. It infiltrated the Communist Party in the 1950's, Civil Rights Movement in the 60's, the anti-war movement in the 1970's, the Clintons in the 1990's, BLM prior to the pandemic.

But over the past 20 years, there has been increasing violence on the right. At this point, virtually all of the political violence in the nation is coming from the right, and that includes the police attacks on non-white civilians, and leftist protestors in 2020.

It's no accident that right wing thugs came out to help police against leftist protestors in 2020, that most of the violence was pertratrated on the right, or that police failed to charge the right wing thugs on the streets.
