The Police Should Not be Defunded

We need "Trauma Police" that can serve as mental health professionals. That way the police can work on actual criminals and lawbreakers, and the traumapolice can work on those who are perhaps suicidal or mentally "different".

Sworn officers are ill-equipped to deal with those with mental health issues, substance abuse, or homelessness.

Having mental health and substance abuse professionals respond to disturbances rather than sworn officers would benefit both the officers and the community.

Bullshit

Bullshit.

It'll result in a lot of dead social workers

And what do you do when Suicide Johnny decides to shoot the counselor or maybe grab his wife and put a bullet through her head and then through his own or maybe he just cuts her head off and kills the crisis interventionist?

Then is it ok afterwards to send in the police to write up the reports on their robberies and murders and to arrest the perpetrators?

Because they should be abolished instead.
During the siege, which ended when a U.S. Border Patrol team burst in and shot the gunman to death, frustrated onlookers urged police officers to charge into the school, according to witnesses.

“Go in there! Go in there!” women shouted at the officers soon after the attack began, said Juan Carranza, 24, who watched the scene from outside a house across the street.

40 minutes to an hour elapsed from when Ramos opened fire on the school security officer to when the tactical team shot him.

Javier Cazares, whose fourth grade daughter, Jacklyn Cazares, was killed in the attack, said he raced to the school when he heard about the shooting, arriving while police were still gathered outside.

Just standing around.

Upset that police were not moving in, he raised the idea of charging into the school with several other bystanders.

“Let’s just rush in because the cops aren’t doing anything like they are supposed to,”

You solution would result in hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded "counselors" annually.

As pro LE as I am, the list of mistakes and bad decisions made by the LEO's on site resulting in additional deaths gets longer by the minute.

The director of the Texas Department of Public Safety admitted Friday that it was the “wrong decision” for more than a dozen officers to wait outside a classroom door as a shooter killed children inside earlier this week.
“With the benefit of hindsight, where I’m sitting now, of course it was not the right decision, it was the wrong decision, there was no excuse for that,” DPS Director Col. Steven McCraw told reporters.

The shooting was over by the time they got there.

They were still absolutely wrong to wait another 45 minutes to make entry.

Some of those kids who died might well have been saved if they'd gotten medical treatment sooner.

Is this a satirical post? Or just someone being an idiot?

Go ask the families of the kids killed in Ulvade who were screaming and begging the police to stop the attacker if they think that police should be inhibited.

The Left and wokeness need to be utterly exterminated as a policy if the US is going to be able to continue to exist as a country moving forward.

It's purge night, every night ... I'm up for that.

Not what I heard. I heard they thought he was barricaded alone but meanwhile he wasn’t and kids were begging 911 to send someone in. Is that fake news?

Dont you guys believe sandy hook never happened? You’ll believe anything.

So if the only solution is a good guy with a gun and this one kid had an assault rifle and did all this, how many armed good guys should be at each school and what guns will they have?

Who’s spreading fake news me or you?

Students trapped inside a classroom with a gunman repeatedly called 911 during this week’s attack on a Texas elementary school, including one who pleaded, “Please send the police now,” as officers waited more than an hour to breach the classroom after following the gunman into the building, authorities said Friday.

There was a barrage of gunfire shortly after Ramos entered the classroom where officers eventually killed him, but those shots were “sporadic” for much of the time that officers waited in the hallway, McCraw said. He said investigators do not know if children died during that time.

They know.

Friday’s briefing came after authorities spent three days providing often conflicting and incomplete information about the more than an hour that elapsed between the time Ramos entered the school and when U.S. Border Patrol agents unlocked the classroom door and killed him.

Pathetic. Texas cops.
