The parade - from one who was there

The parade was filmed. It's harder to lie when it's filmed. The soldiers looked pretty happy. It was interesting to see how the Army had changed over the years. The music of course reflected the time periods.

It was certainly better than a democrat screech and bugle.

Just to the right of him the woman's got a walker. Kinda looks like Hillary, too. 😆
The walker has an upside-down flag on it, and she's wearing a
"Resist No Kings" T-shirt.
I bet AARP had a booth there signing them up left and right! :spinner:
Signing them up, handing out checks.

Looks fake.
Looks like a Swabbie. When was the last time we faced a Naval combatant?

Oh yeah, almost forgot. That Naval Powerhouse, Iran --

BFD.
It was a good day for recruitment and military morale.
These fuckers do not know how deadly a lot of Americans are.
There's guys out there hunting bears with spears n shit.
Taking mule deer down with arrows.
Many of the Red Man's ways are ingrained into American heritage.
Americans know how to shoot and hunt and cull bad predators from around their place.
Yep, it was a fantastic parade

There is a lot more Native American Blood in Americans than people realize. A lot more.

I'm 70 now and I remember when parades used to be fun—bands, bunting, some big Army boom-booms for the kids to cheer over, every high school bandmaster doing their best Robert Preston cosplay. I remember when they were ceremonies of communal joy. You could mark your calendar by them. Homecoming parades. Veterans Day, which was Armistice Day when I was very young.

And then there was this leaden spectacle on Saturday, June 14.

I have never experienced such a joyless, lifeless, and sterile mass event in my entire life. Grim-faced soldiers, marching past half-empty grandstands, many of them obviously wanting to be somewhere else. No bands. Little bunting. Just piped-in rock music and MAGA hats. If this truly was meant to honor the 250 years of the United States Army, all we got was an endless procession of uniformed troops looking like they’d prefer to have been at Valley Forge. The president, sitting on the reviewing stand in that weird, forward-leaning attitude that he has, rarely smiling, a skunk at his own garden party. Scores of people being funneled through cattle-runs of metal grates just for a chance to sit on the lawn of the Washington Monument and listen to bad music and speeches so dull and listless that they’d have made Demosthenes get out of the business and open an olive oil stand.

I think there probably was more good feeling and genuine emotion when they took Jack Kennedy out to Arlington for the last time.
I'm 70 now and I remember when people joined together to honor our troops and the sacrifices that they've made regardless of political party! I'm curious why someone with such obvious dislike for the military even attended something like this, if you in fact did! "Grim-faced soldiers"? You think that meant they wanted to be somewhere else? The majority of those units marching were special units formed just for ceremonial events like that one! Those soldiers chose to be in those units and were honored to be selected. Military units on parade march don't typically grin from ear to ear. You'd know that if you ever served. As for how the President sits? Are you kidding me? That's your big problem with Trump? I hate to break this to you Bill but you're REALLY scraping the bottom of the Trump Derangement Barrel on that one!

And you want us to believe you were actually there. LOL

I'm convinced that that was a setup by the Obama administration. With modern navigation systems there is no ******* way they accidentally crossed into Iranian waters.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity........ Or, in the case of dimocrap scum -- Cowardice AND Stupidity

They don't 'plan' it, things just work out that way when they're in charge. Can't think of an analogy right now. But if you want something, anything, to turn to shit, just put dimocrap scum in charge. Everything they touch turns to shit. EVERYTHING

Good. That "parade" wasn't for the military, and Americans knew it. It was an insult.

But I still won't be surprised if he claims 5 million were there. For him.
Your TDS is flaring again!

My son, who doesn't watch TV, saw every minute of it. He was an Infantry Sergeant in Afghanistan.

Yeah I'm not fired up about it; certainly not the worst thing. Just not my favorite.

I caught part of it, lots of interesting things, a far, far better way to spend our money on national pride than any of the billions found wasted by DOGE that is for sure.

I'd expand on that and say putting a politician in charge no matter their affiliation and things are going to turn to shit.

I don't trust any of them. Why would someone actively seek out a job that pays nowhere near what the civilian equivalent would make.

Your hatred of the President is well known. What did you expect to see, the soldiers and Trump yukking it up? It was a show of respect for our military throughout history and a display of American strength.

The American public has always been inconsistent concerning our military.

When I completed my 2 years of being drafted for the Vietnam war.
There were No parades for us or even a thank you.
We were told do not wear our army uniform for safety concerns when traveling back home.

Fast forward 20 years later after Desert Storm.
There were huge Welcome Home parades everywhere across the country.
Patriotism and displaying the American flag was in vogue.

Now today, it has reversed once again.
Contempt for our military and burning the American flag seems to be quite popular.

Just FYI, one boat broke down and the other was assisting. They drifted into Iranian waters according to reports. All things considered, we were lucky. The Iranians were actually pretty cool about it.
