at this time is that Minnesota has a Democrat Governor who appoints a temporary replacement. End of story.
The only reason he "announced" his retirement is because of Moore. Democrats would be paralyzed by going after Moore while keeping Franken on board.
If you are honest with yourself, do you really believe there would have any announcement if there was no Moore in the picture? The Democrats would have circled the wagon like they did with Clinton and every other Democrat politician that ran into similar trouble.
Just because he announced he was quitting doesn't mean he will. He didn't resign immediately, he said the next couple of weeks. Gee, now what's going to happen in the next week? That's right, the Alabama election
I won't believe he's dropping out until he does.
that may well have been a contributing factor as well. But even then if the GOP had the Governor Franken would not have resigned giving the GOP another seat if that were the case.
Perhaps, but my crystal ball is no better than yours.
The new game is "See how much better we Democrats are than Republicans?"
Democrats have made a bad name for themselves by catering to weirdos, siding with criminals against the police, supporting protests in professional football, and endorsing street protests that turned into riots and property damage.
They lost the Congress, the Senate, most of the governorships across the country, the White House, and hundreds of smaller local seats.
Now they finally realize that cutting Republicans down is not winning them elections. The racist, bigot, sexiest, homophobe thing isn't working and never has. Time for something new. It's not much of an improvement, but an improvement in strategy.
