He couldn't debate effectively with three people attacking him at once. If the moderators were fair, he would have.

His ego wasn't a problem. His campaign prepared him assuming the fairness of the moderators. Expecting fairness shouldn't be a mistake in situations like this, but it was here.

His anger was at the fact he was being triple teamed. He knew it was unfair but chose not to say anything about it. Saying it would have hurt him.
