The NFL Fought Donald Trump's Bullying 30 Years Ago and Won. Should It Do It Again?

What did what do?
the nfl, what did it do? it had to have done something to win.

Did you read the thread? Or the OP?

Rump wanted a piece of the NFL. NFL could see what he was and said 'no way'. So Rump went running to the USFL and tried to use it as a battering ram to knock down the NFL. He lost. Technically the court said they "won' the lawsuit and awarded damages of one dollar, just because Rump was such an asshole.

Then the USFL folded and the NFL went on with its next twenty years.

well that's not what I remember, trump/usfl proved in court that the owners in the nfl threatened sponsors of the nfl that if they sponsored usfl football they would not be back as nfl sponsors, the court agreed and and sided with the usfl, and the judge claimed he had no idea how to award the case so he awarded one dollar [that's all from memory so you may want to look it up]...
now as far as who won, if you are not claiming they beat trump in court then you need to say that, even if you believe trumps victory is technical it is not a victory for the nfl by any stretch, in fact it is still a defeat...
...as far as bullying, meh, semantics, besides, chances are the nfl owners are squarely in trumps corner today, if not they would be in kaepernics[sp] corner and I couldn't care any less how this turns out...in fact I think trump should use kaepernics ideas when dealing with the left, "is it crazy enough" and "you need to lose everything"...ya know, just to see if they are serious enough to actually do it.
btw, not exactly sure how it works out [do not know if the nfl is allowed to invest that money or if it is a set aside that cannot be touched] but the interest on the award will eventually force somebodies hand, don't forget it was only $3 for one year it has been compounding interest ever since and that interest grows larger every year as well.

 No it doesn't. That $3.76 is the final settlement. One dollar plus interest accrued over five years or whatever it was. It's over.

As far as bullying --- according to the title of this thread that's the whole point. Winning the suit and being awarded one dollar is kinda like waiting a table and getting a tip of one cent. It tells the waiter what his service was worth while also telling him "no I didn't forget to tip, this is what you're worth".

Rump wanted in on the NFL; NFL said no, he took a hissyfit, lost his hissyfit and even today he still wets his pants about it.

So, instead of becoming an NFL franchise owner, Trump became the president of the United States. The NFL really showed him, huh?

Actually the NFL showed US. But apparently just-barely enough people weren't listening.

Not long after this $3.76 windfall, some other investors in Atlantic City made the same mistake. "Those who ignore history...."
The NFL showed us that Trump has vanquished all before him. I get that it upsets you, but I think you are being pretty thin-skinned about it.

Oh and do tell us how he "vanquished" Eastern Airlines by flying them into the ground and how he "vanquished" Atlantic City by ridding it of those pesky casinos and how he "vanquished" the Sharper Image by relieving them of the dubious decision to sell Rump Steaks, and how he "vanquished" Expedia with his Go Rump travel site and how he "vanquished" a vitamin company that made you send in your pee. I think we've already covered how he "vanquished" considerable personal saving with Fraud University and its motto "you don't sell products, benefits or solutions -- you sell feelings".

Feelings..... nothing more than feelings......

Feelings.... woe woe woe feelings....
Trump vanquished both political parties and two political dynasties. He's also vanquished MSM, Hollywood, Academia, Obama's legacy, ISIS, the Deep State and the rest of the swamp. The NFL is peanuts in the range of things; a historical footnote,

So now you're crying "OK he didn't vanquish the NFL but it doesn't matter anyway" :crybaby:

What Rump vanquished was decorum, ethics, Presidentiality, good taste, civility, bipartisanship, logic, reality, truth, respect, discourse, basic mores of incest and pedophilia, history, honesty, hope, domestic tranquility, the international reputation of the United States, diplomacy, his own staff, his own family, his own office, his own skin color, any concept of discipline on Twitter, any concept of discipline at all, the respect of the military, the respect of the rest of the world, relations with Canada, relations with Mexico, any shred of character whatsoever, and of course the bank accounts of those who invested in Fraud University, those invested in Atlantic City, those invested in the USFL, etc etc etc we already did that.

But up there your amusing laundry list raises a couple of guffaws: If Rump "vanquished ISIS" then who the fuck were those terrorists who murdered the bicyclists in Asia a few weeks back? If he "vanquished the swamp" who the fuck let all these swamp creatures in? And why the fuck would you want ANYONE ANYWHERE to "vanquish Academia"? That's what Hitler tried to do. Ditto for "vanquishing media".

OOopsie. Freudian slip huh.
You sound very much like a (vanquished) tired establishment whore who's taken few few too many up her backside, and yet a prig to boot. But then again, that makes sense.

Whelp --- you sound like a blind Rumpbot who just got bitch-slapped into oblivion with a heaping helping of Reality, so I guess we is even up.

well the award was for one dollar but that automatically tripled to 3 dollars, not sure where you got 5 years from but interest is automatic not awarded but that's neither here not there, the reason checks always have expiration dates is because they wreak havoc on bookkeeping when they are not cashed promptly [the amount has litlle or nothing to do with it], there was an article back in the 90's about the case [usfl v nfl] and they said if it weren't for the outstanding judgement against them they would have been the same as a win, now they have to go into court every year and file two sets of income tax which amounts to about 1.1 mil a year in 1998 [I think] money which is non deductible expense

No it's not in that analogy [and I really don't think it qualifies as accurate]In that analogy it would just mean you had no idea what the correct tip is and got it wrong...but I did take your advice and re-read the post [it took me several times] and I can see it was not based primarily on the court case.

Trump isn't the least bit upset by this, he became president, won't happen for any of them and wouldn't have happened for him if he were an nfl owner.

Trump destroyed the USFL

Now he is destroying the US

Rump is gonna do for us what he did for the USFL. Won a lawsuit for a total of three dollars and seventy-six cents, at which point it collapsed like a trip on the Rump Shuttle to an Atlantic City casino.

Or as I like to put it in more personal style, Rump will do for America what Borat did for Kazakhstan.
He won the lawsuit though, right? Just checking.

It would appear he's still butthurt after all these years, considering his whining about "fire the sumbitches" and his obtuse insistence on how he's a "successful businessman" and shit.

The rest of the post was basically a TL;DR. Suffice to say the check wasn't written when the award was one dollar; you'll notice from the date it was years later, AFTER interest had accrued to bring it to $3.76. In other words the check isn't written until the legal process is exhausted.

USFL won the suit; NFL won the point.

The former went bye-bye; the latter continued. Rump lost his USFL team and was never allowed into the NFL. Win-win.
