The next Republican to be thrown under the bus is........

I wish there would be a government shutdown.
Me to, if it were real.

The last shutdowns amounted to paid vacations for already underworked federal employees. If they were really going to lose pay, they would scream at their Democratic patrons to give the Republicans what they demand and get the money pipeline flowing again.

Nancy was highly skilled at getting Democratic congressfolk to toe her line instead of listening to the voices of their trivial constituents. Almost as skilled as she was at passing legislation that benefitted her husband’s business dealings.

Republicans have much more heterogeneity of ideas and beliefs, which I see as a good thing. Right now there is more squabbling as the last of the aging Never Trump Republicrats die off and the younger among them try hard to cling to power. For most of them, they are reduced to giving each other retirement advice.
Yea… the GOP House is very diverse.

They range from mildly right wing toadies afraid of being primaried to the truly pathological

What can be expected of a party whose overwhelming front runner just endorsed a federal government shut down so as supposedly to defund the legal system’s trials and prosecutions against him for crimes he has already been indicted for?

Of course Trump was directly behind the longest shutdown in U.S. history when he was President, and then he folded after 35 days, having exacted absolutely nothing. He knows this strategy cannot possibly work against his own prosecutions.

The extremist leaders of the Trump Party in the House of Representatives of course support all this pointless obstructionism. On Wednesday afternoon Republican Rep. Gaetz even put the blame for the expected shutdown on House leader McCarthy, saying that “we will have a government shutdown and it is absolutely Speaker McCarthy’s fault”.

“We cannot blame Joe Biden for not having moved our individual spending bills. We cannot blame House Democrats. We can’t even blame Chuck Schumer in the Senate,” he said, according to Fox News.

This mad “Trump Party” must be crushed in our next elections!

Unfortunately the Dems are running two unappealing candidates for Pres. and VP … which will make that much more difficult to accomplish.

Took a little longer than normal, but we made it! :laugh2:

The first sentence is nonsense and cannot be credible by any standard.

The second sentence is why I did not and will not vote for Trump.

In the House of Representatives, the only extremists are the Democrats. They also tend to be radicalized.

This mad “Trump Party” must be crushed in our next elections!

Be careful; your fascism is showing.

Vanityfair is a leftwing advocate for the democrat party. They are not even remotely credible.

Why? That always adds to the debt and accomplishes nothing positive
This would not exist if it was not outside interest corrupting our then politicians in 1913. Fiat currency is negative money. It exists as debts. Then we let people eligible to vote who demand social programs and more. Never ending. Always expanding. Tell us how to stop this. more taxes on the rich ain't going to do it.

A Trump bylaw to Godwin's law. Interesting. :eusa_think:

Republicans don't believe in governance. It's like hiring a vegetarian as head chef at a steakhouse.

It is heresy in Repub circles both to praise Nancy Pelosi and to speak the truth. This guy did both.

As the chaos and dysfunction within the House Republican caucus brings the country closer and closer to a now almost inevitable government shutdown, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) praised former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her leadership and ability to keep her caucus together when she held the gavel.

When asked in an interview with CNN Thursday whether he still supports Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) amid the looming shutdown crisis, Burchett said he has “questions” and “doubts” about it.

“We need leadership,” he said, later citing Pelosi as an example.

“I don’t agree with her ever, hardly on anything,” Burchett said. “But she was pretty successful. The way she did it was: she put an issue out … she met with them, she figured out what they wanted, and then they put it on the floor. And they passed it and they rallied around it. A lot of work goes into that.”

“But we’re not seeing that. I’m not seeing that work right now,” Burchett added, pointing the finger at McCarthy. “And it’s very disappointing to me.”

Nancy is considered, among rational observers, to be one of if not the most effective Speakers in US history. But she doesn't deserve all the credit. She didn't have to herd a bunch of feral cats with nihilistic impulses. Her caucus was comprised of people with a genuine, coalescing interest in moving the country forward. Conversely, members of the Freedom Caucus are hostage takers with a coalescing interest in creating havoc. Like ruining the full faith and credit of the US.
Pelosi used to say, "Some people count sheep at night, I count votes!"

She did know how to get things done and rally her caucus...to pass legislation.

Probably one of the best Speakers ever, in that realm!

She didn't need to count votes....She only needed to number the few that needed to be bullied and threatened.

But you lefties love you some overbearing tyrants, so there's that.

Why don't Chuck and Nancy and Sleepy Joe actually NEGOTIATE with Republican leaders and try to be actually Bipartisan, instead of just looking to implement their political will? Go to Boebert, MTG , Gohmert and other top Republicans with hat in hand, and see what they can do to get their friends from across the aisle to get on board?

They weren't bullied oddball, she worked with them, to find consensus, and had the proposed bill drafted to include what they all or most all, had consensus on.... That is how it is done, and suppose to be done....with a give and take among colleagues.

McCarthy reaps, what he's sown.... division beyond repair imo.

Why should 5 or so congressmen demand from all other representatives representing us, hundreds of these representatives, be forced to give in and have no say, for the 5 to rule the country?

You think that is okay, while Pelosi working her butt off to find and getting consensus from the whole democratic caucus is what is wrong, while shitheads like Gaetz forcing their shit on others are the good ones? Really?

They were bullied....She's a fucking dragon woman....That's her well-deserved reputation.
