The new Trump reflecting pool is a big hit… with algae

No prove it. Biden had 4 years to wreck the economy. Trumps improvements have been astounding in such a short time in spite of the war. Bidens inflation was demand side inflation caused by his polices. The mild inflation under Trump is supply side caused by the oil shortage that has now ended. Oil and gas is dropping rapidly. Dow is surging, jobs beating expectations. Wages are up take home pay is up all because of the BBB. This is just the beginning.
What is so astounding?

Unemployment is higher than Biden's last month inffice. Inflation is higher than Biden's last month in office. GDP is lower than Biden's last quarter in office.

Bottom line the economy is strong Iran is no longer a problem and all because of Trump. You want to go back to Bidens economy? By saying it could have been better youre admitting it already is. The only places where the economy is suffering tare democrat states. People fleeing in droves.
I Ran is no longer a problem? They closed the Strait of Hormuz again.

Yeah you guys think descending gas prices, de-fanging Iran, killing 2 ayatollas, lowering inflation and sealing our border is all 'shit.' All you can complain about is algae. Geez you guys are petty.
Gas is higher now than it was when Biden left office.

He spent 34 million dollars on restoring it and the problems were not fixed.
Not all of the problems, but some were.

Now imagine spending $14 million on an illegal no bid contract, with an original estimate of $1.7 million, and not only fixing ZERO problems, but actually making everything much worse to the point that we are going to have to spend millions just to get it back to where it was 3 months ago.

Gas is higher now than it was when Biden left office.
It's just starting to come down after the Iran MOU. It was higher because of the Iran war. False comparison. Also gas prices were high during the Biden regime because he vowed to get rid of fossil fuel. Also, during Biden there was Covid. Stop prevaricating.

Do you think Trump isn't raving & raving over that pool shitshow?
Could be, I know I'd be pissed if a contractor screwed up. I'd be kicking butt and taking names. However, your statement is only a presumption anyway. You hate Trump so you assume fake B.S. about what Trump thinks or may be doing with absolutely no facts to back up your hysteria.

I have a friend that used to be in the fountain business. He wrote a letter to Trump that included this:

As things stand now, it will always have algae. For its square footage, it’s too shallow. There’s no movement to the water. There’s no aeration to the water. It’s in Washington, where the summers are always hot & humid - perfect conditions for algae. The existing pumps/filtration system is woefully inadequate. Plus, it was just painted a darkish blue which will absorb more sunlight &, therefore, make the water even warmer.

Now, if it were up to me, I’d put about 4 or 5 evenly-spaced fountains in it, from one end to the other. Have multiple streams of water in each, all soaring to about 20 feet above the water level. They would aerate the water. They’d help to filter (filters on the pumps) the water & they would roil the water so algae wouldn’t have the conditions it needs to grow & thrive.

The fountains wouldn’t have to be running 24/7 - maybe leave them off during the day so it would still be a reflecting pool - but run them during dark hours, with nice underwater white lighting illuminating the fountains during the night. On patriotic occasions, the lights could be red, white & blue.

This would make the pool two distinct tourist attractions: one during the day & another at night.

where it was 3 months ago is worse than wheres it at now,,

and since its been a problems since it was built at this point the whole thing will have to be dug up and totally rebuilt,,

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has battled structural leaks and algae blooms since it was constructed in 1922. Built on unstable mudflats, the pool suffers from settling and cracks. Because the water is shallow, slow-moving, and sits in the sun, it creates a persistent environment for algae to grow. [1, 2, 3]

Today they were vacuuming up all the dead algae on the bottom.

I think it's a tough battle this time of year, but winnable.

They're making good progress.

as I posted,, it has been a problem since it was built,,

from what I understand from the pool guy he thinks its water seeping up from underneath because it literally was a swamp and that has compromised the concrete causing the new sealer to delaminate,,

see what happens but it may turn out the only way to fix it is dig it up and put some kind of barrier between the concrete and ground under it like we do with home foundations,,

That's what they were planning on doing before giving this method a shot. They were going to dig it up. That would take a long time.

Trump wants it looking clear and blue for Independence Day.

Another problem could be applying the poly coat over contrasting surfaces. The coating over the concrete may cure at a different rate than the coating over granite.

Surface preparation is key.

That’s right just days after the opening of the newly painted reflecting pool officials have maintenance crews vacuuming the growing algae off the top of the pool. Turns out that the darker paint creates an even better environment for algae.

Congrats we have a $13 million algae resort

hard to tell from where we are sitting but sealing the surface was the next logical step,,

we will see what they come up with,,

That fiasco cost $14 million paid to a contractor who donated to Trump's campaign via a no-bid contract.

Hopefully, Trump won't hire another "pool guy" to clean up that disaster.

So what? A lot of people donated to Trump, that means exactly nothing. Trump didn't hire a 'pool guy' he hired Green Water Solutions that specializes in a technology to reduce toxins, algae, microcystins, nitrates and phosphates.
The contract was awarded by the Dept of Interior, not Trump.
