The Math wall.....

And if it were taught here the way it is in many of those countries, American parents would raise a stink.
I feel for you.....you are a dedicated professional who actually cares. IMO our society is pretty screwed up when we pay millions to sports stars and peanuts to our most valuable citizens...
Good Teachers.

Math is a problem all over the country. Even simple math is causing problems. Many young retail cashiers can't even make change unless the register tells them the amount so I can imagine what problems you hare having. Our education system is failing the country.
Democrats believe math is racist

Well, if I could find 50,000 people or so willing to pay $300 a pop to watch me teach, I'd be all set!

Useful Article that I agree with.

So adding two numbers like 98 and 37,
You believe that adding 2 to 98 and taking away 2 from 37 and getting 135 is “New Math”?

ONCE they know their ‘basics’ this is thought of as a problem solving skill and very useful.
After seeing what Leftists/Democrats have done to education, nothing surprises me.
It’s sad when you have no respect for teachers, but adore and idolize liars and thieves in Congress.

I have the utmost respect for TEACHERS. I have ZERO RESPECT for the Leftist/Democrat administrators and higher ups that have destroyed our public education system. I took Algebra 1 in the 8th grade it's freaking easy!

I agree, I taught 7th Graders in Algebra and 8th Graders in Geometry.
They did quite well.

When students come prepared and engaged, it's easy.
Why are you blaming administration for parents that send their kid to school unprepared.

Some Elementary kids can't tie their own shoes, that's on the parents.

OK I agree that it's not fair to put ALL of the math and reading decline on the curriculum. But the numbers don't lie, the scores are at record lows. Charter schools for example outperform public schools by a significant margin.

A large percentage of Charter Schools fail and are corrupt with fraud.

Completely agree. It's pointless to have kids who suck at math be forced to take nerd classes.
Also it doesn't help when schools come up with new ways to do the basics every few years.
These new ways you speak of are garbage. Woke math has no place in the real world. Several lessons I learned from math although there are more.

1. Always clear fractions into decimals. Fractions are pain in the ass to work with.

2. Don't bother trying to sq rt a negative number. Just conclude an irrational number is the answer.

3. Don't bother asking why a negative number times or divide another negative number yields a positive number.

That is because Charter Schools operate more like an actual business that must perform or will be gone. The majority of Charter Schools are successful and outperform public schools.

My math teacher said this back in the days, "the only way you learn math is do math".

I wouldn't be shocked if the principal calls him into the office for saying that today.

Do charter schools have special education classrooms?

Do charter schools get to refuse students?
