I guess there are a few governing bodies in the tennis industry. The ITF (International Tennis Federation) and the USTA.
There has been virtually no American male tennis player since Pete Sampras. It draws no interest.
Here is one giant problem. This amazes me too. There are 4 grand slam events in tennis and only one of those is on American soil. The US Open, unlike golf that has 3 of their 4 majors on American soil.
Every year, the US Open in tennis has their showcase match (the men's final) fall on NFL opening Sunday. Instead of starting the US Open one week earlier they could land the mens final on the Sunday before NFL opening weekend. Where there is virtually nothing going on in sports.
