I knew this guy was going to stymie us. His reputation is that of not winning the big game but he has always shut the Leafs down against some of the best shooters in the game.

He did so again today, he needs to be MVP

I was in college watching this with my buddies. The spontaneous outburst from the dorms after the win was awesome!

Trump invited Team USA to your SOTU on Tuesday. He half laughed with some admiration for the Canadian team when he said something to the effect "you beat a pretty good team over there". He saw how downhill the game was for Team Canada, the offense on that team is insane though we probably missed Crosby with his injury.

The expected goals for Team Canada was 5.6 or something. 5.6 Was what the team was expected to statistically score and Hellebuych, USAs goalie allowed 1 goal. That is insanity, especially against the best scorers in the league.

He has done this to the Leafs before and I worried he would be lights out in that one gold medal game. That was the only way we lose tonight and he was insane.

Also, Team USA killing a 90 second 5 on 3 PP. I would have bet alot that Canada would score one goal during that PP but nope.

USA deserved it. As a huge hockey fan who objectively knows both teams players, Hellebuyck almost single handedly won that game. Matthews was his usual strong 2-way self, USA was strong in the face offs and their penalty kill was outstanding. Hellebuyck though..truly the game of his life.

You could watch hockey for another 20 years and not see a team as stacked as Canada (U.S is deep too, especially on defense) with 42 shots to 28 advantage, statistically expecting to score almost 6 goals and end up with 1 the whole game.

I have been transfixed with reading social media all day, it was just incredible to think what this guy did. 100s Of millions around the world were watching this game. USAs first gold since 1980.

Yeah, I posted about that in post 24. Not only was it 5 on 3, one of the three Americans dropped his stick at one point while the Canadians were attacking the goal.

Our men and women of Team USA have absolutely dominated hockey in the Olympics.

Our women defeated Canada for the gold yesterday in overtime.

As I write this, the men's Team USA is pounding the shit out of Slovakia, entering the third period with a score of 5-0. This means Slovakia will be playing Finland for the Bronze, and we will be competing against Canada on Sunday for the Gold.

It is embarrassing how badly our boys and girls have been spanking the planet. The only ones who gave us a good fight were the Swedes, who we beat by a whisker in overtime.

I have to say, the Swedes play like real gentlemen. They don't slam their opponents into the boards, they don't play rough at all.

Something I learned while watching the female Team USA is that body checking an opponent into the boards is not allowed in the women's hockey. One of our gals was sent to the sin bin for doing so.

Are you kidding me? Body checking into the boards is all part of the game in men's hockey!

Watching this USA v. Slovakia game, there is a Slovak who appears to have some kind of vendetta against one of the Tkachuk brothers, Matthew. The Slovak has physically attacked Tkachuk several times, including coming from behind and putting Tkachuck in a choke hold. Without drawing a penalty!

After the third or fourth attack, he was finally sent to the sin bin, but it has not stopped him.

There is something personal going on here.
