Hey Orangecat. Gibson just sent a cease and desist letter to the mfg. of the trump guitars. They think that the single-cut body style is too similar to the Les Paul. I guess we'll see where this goes.

I believe guitar shapes are not covered under patents, just headstock design and logos. Have you seen how many guitars are out there shaped exactly like strats/teles/pauls? Bigsby guitars look like LPs before LPs existed.

The body shape on that Bigsby is quite different from a Les Paul. There are several other brands with bodies that look just like them though. I have no idea how this will play out. Sometimes royalty payments are agreed upon.

I bought a $221 “Strat” from Temu, just to see the quality. Arrived with a correct Fender spaghetti logo on one side of the headstock, custom shop makings on the back. Played like crap compared to what I’m used to…

Nice looking for a heavy relic, but at $221 there were probably too many cost reductions to be an excellent instrument.
