Ok, dig this, or should I say creusez ceci.

I've had this 94 Buick Skylark for awhile now. My plan was to keep it about another year, then trade it in and get something like a Blazer or Bronco, or preferably a Jeep Cherokee.

Well, right around the first of November I was on my way to Wichita Falls to see a movie. I was just a few miles outside of town when a deer changed my plans. Tore the hell out of the passengers side of the car, almost ripped off the fender and took out my headlight and blinker. Oddly, the car still ran great. Anyway, my plans to move onto a Jeep Cherokee moved up a bit. I happened to quickly come across a 1985 Jeep Cherokee at a reasonable price and bought it. A couple of weeks later, out of the blue the motor started getting hot and I broke down. Need a new motor.

So, I was back in the Skylark, one fender, one headlight, one blinker, but it was still all legal and most importantly it was running. I've spent the better part of the last month tracking down motors for the Jeep, which has turned out to be a far more difficult task than I expected. Today (actually Monday, but that's still today for me) I finally got a good lead on one and saw a light at the end of my tunnel. Not so fast.

Coming home from work tonight I my car started making a little knocking sound. Nothing much at first, but the closer I got to the house the louder it got. I was just hoping to make it home but unfortunately getting home included going up a couple of steep hills. Going up the first hill the knocking got really bad. Going up the second....toast. There are small pieces of my car laying on the pavement between the point the car died and the spot on the side of the highway where my car came to a rolling stop. Apparently threw a rod.

So...I currently am the proud owner of two non running vehicles. Tomorrow, I'm going down to see an old friend at a local car lot and see what he can put me in for cheap.

I have no moral to this story. I'm just venting.

:bang3:

That's not a sword...Just more Bully BS in disguise.

He makes me laugh; more because of his persistence than anything else. I am thinking that he doesn't believe most of the stuff he posts, he just likes to get a rise out of folks. Comes in first thing in the morning, drops his little hand grenade, and then checks back later to see if it started anything. I am afraid if no one ansewrs his posts, he wont come back...and I need the smile every morning.

CSM...What the heck is "chainmail armor"?

Chain mail is armor made from chain links...like the Knights of old used to wear (as opposed to plate armor). A lot of the techniques used to make armor are now used in jewelry making. I do it for fun; made a few hauberks and coifs for my sons. I have been passing my "spare time" in making armor for several years now.

I probably could, but then I'd have to set up a business and all that...I'd rather just putter around with it and make what ever I feel like at the time.

It looks tedious.
That's why I call it knitting for men. It is tedious; I usually put together a bunch of links while I am watching tv.

I also practice medievil martial arts...sword fighting in other words...mostly with my sons and a few friends. Keeps me in shape and is GREAT cardio...especially with a 30 pound hauberk on.

15th post
I saw a program on PBS once where these folks were living and training as knights.
Wearing all the armour etc. Young folks, it wore em out after a few hours.

Never been to one. Wouldn't know how to act at one either. This was all just tuff I picked up because of an intense interest in military history.

Just thought you could sell your wares to the die hards-----no business--just cash on the barrelhead--I used to sell them furs I tanned--not legal but they gladly paid for em.
