1) Citizens United. God do I even need to explain how stupid this ruling was? I really shouldn't have to.
2) Tax cuts for the top 1% that do NOTHING to stimulate overall economic growth
3) The denial of climate change. The ONLY reason why rightwing voters rejected the science behind climate change in the first place is because republicans in office to told them to. That's it. RW voters are just that dumb. From there, bullshit like Fox News did their republican bidding and spread the same non sense.
4) Republicans in office will do NOTHING to improve our healthcare system. Guess what you dumbasses? Our healthcare system was a joke before ACA. ACA, while not perfect, still insures millions more people. Fixing its flaws is what matters.
5) Republicans in office will do NOTHING to fix our crumbling infrastructure system. A time will come when our electrical grid will just fail. Are you ready for that? No one is. You dumbasses just pretend the free market will fix everything and your complete stupidity will only screw the entire country over.
And let me yawn now. The problem, and it's always a problem when you examine the truth, is that Democrats are not much better on any of those issues. While you rail against the 1% the Health Care Plan we enjoy was written by them. The problem isn't that you hate the 1%, you hate the 1% that donate to and support Republicans.
Let's be honest for a change. While everyone on the Left was railing against the pipeline that would be built to carry tar sands oil to the refineries in Louisiana making increasingly insane arguments to explain why they opposed it, the oil was moving. Eventually the truth came out, the pipeline was being built by the Koch Brothers and they were awful for donating to Republicans. The oil was moving already, it was being moved by rail. It was having accidents by rail, and spilling by rail, and causing all the environmental disasters that the Left swore would be the norm all the time already as it was moved by rail in ancient tank cars on old worn out tracks.
The difference was that the tracks, the trains, and the cars were owned by Warren Buffett, and he donated to Democrats. He did everything the folks on the Right are awful for doing, but he said different things. He said you should tax him more. Of course, he had dozens of lawyers who made sure he paid as little tax as possible, but he said the right words, and that was all that mattered. He admitted he didn't pay one dime more in taxes than he was forced to, but he wanted you to hold a gun to his head and make him pay more. Or something.
This is the real problem that the Democrats had. On every single subject, the best they can do is come off as hypocrites. Unions already had an exemption under the Campaign Finance Reform to donate as much money as they wanted. The rest formed "Super PAC" groups to support their favorite politician, or politicians, and causes. Please tell me you aren't silly enough to actually believe that these groups never talked to the politicians or their staffs to coordinate the messages.
I can give money to anyone I want. I can walk up to a drug dealer and hand them fifty thousand dollars. It's perfectly legal, unless I get drugs in return. But just giving them the money, that's perfectly legal.
I can walk up to a hooker and give her money. But I can't donate more than X amount to a politician. Because that is a crime or something. Yet, it happens. It happens all the time. I can pay others to donate, and that's happened dozens of times. All Citizen United did was confirm what has always been the standard in the nation. Money is speech.
George W. Bush signed the McCain Feingold bill after saying that it was unconstitutional.
Breaking Constitutional Faith | FindLaw
That was the "signing statement" that was issued. I took great issue with it myself. I argued at the time that the First Amendment says that Congress shall pass no law that.... It does not say that the Supreme Court shall find that any law passed by congress and signed by the President that infringes upon freedom of speech.....
I argued at the time that Bush was a coward, and a jackass for signing the bill he believed was unconstitutional arguing that the Supreme Court would overturn it later.
Not because I believed in Bush but because I believe in the Constitution.
I could go on, and on, and on.
That's the problem. That's why the Democrats are viewed only slightly better than the Republicans. Yes, it's true, the Republicans are only slightly more popular than Herpes. It's also true that the Democrats are only slightly more popular than the Republicans.
Stop being a bunch of hypocritical jackassed fools. Find some core beliefs besides The Republicans are awful. Try representing the actual voters. Don't forget the voters ten seconds after you win the election. And you'll win more elections.
That's the big problem that you and the rest of the Left have yet to realize. When all you do is attack the Republicans, you come off as having nothing to run for. You don't want anything you can tell the people about, all you want is them destroyed. Fine if you are in a war, but if we are in a war, shouldn't we be using something other than words to hurl at each other?
