The huge dockworker strike. Here's what these unskilled laborers are demanding.

20 dollars per hour has been low pay since the 90s.
In California, New York and other high-cost areas certainly. In the 90s, I was a teacher making about $17.00 an hour, and I started at Step 4 on the pay scale. As a substitute teacher, I made $20.00 an hour for my last year. As a contractor, I made $18.00 for the US Government. That alone tells you that you need to put away the broad brush you always use.

Sure it does. Otherwise it wouldn’t bother you so much.

Those are fair questions.

But the strike is over until after the election. No chaos for you to crow about.

I bet that really pisses you off. I LOVE IT
Popular vote counts in elections except for the Presidency. The Electoral College system decides the Presidency.

So $125,000 a year?! (Plus I’ve heard their benefit package is tremendous as well.) Pretty greedy for a job that requires no education and can be learned in a matter of weeks.

Watch grocery prices go up even higher as a result. So these dockworkers - who with overtime can end up with $200,000 - can buy McMansions and go on luxury vacations but the regular people will be struggling even more to put food on the table.

Greedy SOBs.
They have skills. You're so typical.

Popular vote doesn’t matter.

But you didn’t answer the question. Why are these docworkers demanding exorbitant pay while insisting on inefficiency and blocking progress?

It takes a special type of chutzpah to recognize you can replace by automation and then demand a big raise with a guaranteeing you will NOT be replaced with automation.
Lol. You sure have an inferiority complex.

And how, pray-tell does a state allocate it’s electoral votes?

Hmmm?

I'm sorry. English must be your second language. Let me try again: "Popular vote counts in elections except for the Presidency. The Electoral College system decides the Presidency." I didn't even mention "states." And, you are voting? :aargh:

In most states by popular vote but then they only get to award a certain number of deleg… are you really this fucking stupid after years on a political message board? You still don’t understand our system of government?

You don’t seem to understand English...

How do the states allocate electoral votes?

C’mon....you can tell us

Deleg....? You mean delegates? LOL...

You seem to be confusing the primaries and the general election. Delegates to to the national conventions. Electors vote for the President Elect.

No wonder you guys can’t win a popular vote...you don’t know what you’re voting for.

It was at that point in my reply I decided you’re too fucking retarded to explain this to, again. You’re an idiot and can’t be taught. Run off in a popular vote tantrum that doesn’t mean a fucking thing.

LOL...

You’re the one thinking that party delegates have anything to do with the general election.

No wonder you guys have won only one popular vote since 1988. You’re clinically retarded.

Yeah, she’s pretty ignorant.

A 62% increase over 6 years is slightly more than 10% a year. That is a TREMENDOUS amount, especially now that inflation is back to 3%. And that doesn’t account for the fact that these exorbitant new hourly wages will be paid out at 1.5x for overtime.

You can be sure that in addition to blocking progress and efficiency by insisting on no automation, these greedy workers will take their time offloading cargo so as to force a need for overtime.
Overtime should be 1.5x. Want more than 40 hours of work, then pay more. That part is very fair. We should never get rid of overtime laws. Ever.
