not quite------in fact the bible is an historical account in
a way similar to the Odyssey . I do not know who Jerome
is-----but he is wrong. The evidence for specific migrations
as described in the bible is strong based on LINGUISTICS.
You would not understand-----Schlieman understood.
As to the NT-----Jesus---"coincidentally" incessantly
quotes HILLEL-----the most quoted man in all of Israel/
Judea at they very time the "MYTHOLOGICAL" Jesus lived---
distanced writers-----would not have gotten that part so correct
if the man never existed
