This is what I keep pointing out. Everyone complains about the cost of health care, but they do very little to take care of their health.
That's bullshit. People are smoking and drinking less than they ever have in America nowadays. They are listening and taking action
And what has taken the place of the tobacco commercials?......Rx commercials. That's bullshit. People are smoking and drinking less than they ever have in America nowadays. They are listening and taking action
I once spoke to a German national that summed it up quite nicely. He said that Americans are the only nationality that will drive up to the window of McD's and order two Big Macs and Super-sized fries and a DIET COKE because they are too lazy to walk across the parking lot. I had to agree. This is what I keep pointing out. Everyone complains about the cost of health care, but they do very little to take care of their health. Instead of politicians arguing over new government programs or subsidies or taxes to make it more affordable, they ought to be telling everyone to stop feeding their face with garbage and get their fat asses off the sofa and exercise once in a while. If everyone took better care of themselves we'd see dramatically lower health care costs, but not politician has the balls to tell people the truth.
Well, a good start to that is to stop using health insurance for every little sniffle. After all, we don't send a bill to our auto insurance for oil changes, tires, or other routine maintenance costs. This is what I keep pointing out. It would cost them the next election. The best hope is for people to educated themselves about health. Sadly, thanks to the educational system training people need someone else to educate them. But of course, those people have nothing to gain and everything to lose by educating the public about health. This is what I keep pointing out. People believe they are healthier, but the facts say otherwise. That's bullshit. People are smoking and drinking less than they ever have in America nowadays. They are listening and taking action

I walk a lot on my job, so I don't need much 'leg work'.I honestly think if Americans just walked, and snacked less, our health outcomes would improve immensely. Walking is cheap, easy, accessible to many, and you don't even need a treadmill anymore. Walking pads are much cheaper and smaller, and work great (for me anyway).
I walk/jog about 4 miles a day, which is not extremely impressive but puts me way ahead of most Americans.

Did you see the protests when Sec. Duffy asked people to not wear pajamas on planes? This is what I keep pointing out. That would simply guarantee that no one would ever go to the doctor unless they were already sick.Well, a good start to that is to stop using health insurance for every little sniffle. After all, we don't send a bill to our auto insurance for oil changes, tires, or other routine maintenance costs.
Pay for your wellness checkups out of your own pocket. Please pay attention to your body and treat is for your symptoms before they become acute. This means that unless it is thousands of dollars, pay for it out of your own pocket.
Another way to bring down the costs of health insurance is to give Doctors more than half a semester of nutritional education. There are people out there who have the equivalent of a doctorate in nutrition who are just being flat-out ignored. Why? Because they are telling people the truth about food, which threatens big Pharma and Big Agriculture.
Change government nutrition recommendations away from those that misrepresent fat and heart health. Right now, the government blames fat and animal products on the diseases that are being caused by Sugar and highly processed foods that have zero fat or protein and are nothing but ultra-processed carbohydrates that have high fructose corn syrup for mouth feel. That is a marketing ploy to get people to buy their products.
Does anyone remember a time when there was an actual sugar bowl on the dinner table with a teaspoon, and SUGAR WAS ADDED BY THE INDIVIDUAL! Nowadays, there is the equivalent of the entire bowl of sugar in all our foods, PER SERVING!
Finally, when purchasing health insurance, buy the "Catastrophic Care" only option.
Get your government out of my dietary choices.Meantime, in reality:
Before you try to lump it all on the backs of the consumer, the government needs to clean up the mountain of processed food products they allow (many of which disabled people rely upon because they cannot cook from whole, fresh foods), and to cut out the mass campaign by manufacturers to advertise, attract and addict new customers.
- Our FDA allows mountains of attractive, addictive junk foods in our diets.
- The government allows for the mass advertising and marketing of said addictive junk foods.
Just watch the commercials and look at what they market, especially during sporting events--- commercial breaks are replete with ads for the worst foods trying to make you hungry to eat them.
Now you ***** because their billions spent in advertising, marketing and government lobbying for junk food works. The REAL first step to a healthier society is to stop promoting garbage and trying to get people hooked on it.
Next time you're at an NFL game, go to concessions and try to buy a bucket of steamed broccoli and mango juice then get back to me.
True. People should be punished for poor health, not rewarded for it.This is what I keep pointing out. They're trading one bad habit for another. Zero-sum game. That's bullshit. People are smoking and drinking less than they ever have in America nowadays. They are listening and taking action
