The Gun Violence Archive lies about mass public shootings in the U.S.

When were you assigned the role of "Minister of Making Up Silly Definitions"?
Uh, actually, that's the widely held definition.

The Ammosexuals like to make it five or more fatalities because that makes the problem sound less bad.

The Cult of the Left is going to be very disappointed you made any suggestion of clean cut white people.

Huh?

Uh, no. Leftiesexuals have this odd habit of making up colloquial slogans.

Just write, ''duh''.

I say, let Joe speak freely. The more he rants, the more he lies, the more he expresses evil and insane positions, the easier it is for sane people to see him for what he is, and to understand and be warned that insane, evil creatures like him exist among us.

Says the guy who gets up in the middle of the night to rant about me.

Bob, I know I am living in your head, but your obsession is getting... weird.

No...the opposite happened.....the original definition was four or more killed....that was barely getting enough mass public shootings, so obama lowered it to 3.....which still didn't give them enough to scare people, so places like the gun violence archive simply started lying and including gang shootings to bump up the number.....

US mass shootings, 1982–2023: Data from Mother Jones’ investigation

Dating back to at least 2005, the FBI and leading criminologists essentially defined a mass shooting as a single attack in a public place in which four or more victims were killed. We adopted that baseline for fatalities when we gathered data in 2012 on three decades worth of cases.
-------

  • Here is a description of the criteria we use:

    • The perpetrator took the lives of at least four people. A 2008 FBI report identifies an individual as a mass murderer—versus a spree killer or a serial killer—if he kills four or more people in a single incident (not including himself), typically in a single location. (*In 2013, the US government’s fatality baseline was revised down to three; our database reflects this change beginning from Jan. 2013, as detailed above.)
    • The killings were carried out by a lone shooter. (Except in the case of the Columbine massacre and the Westside Middle School killings, which involved two shooters.)
    • The shootings occurred in a public place. (Except in the case of a party on private property in Crandon, Wisconsin, and another in Seattle, where crowds of strangers had gathered, essentially constituting a public crowd.) Crimes primarily related to gang activity or armed robbery are not included, nor are mass killings that took place in private homes (often stemming from domestic violence).
    • Perpetrators who died or were wounded during the attack are not included in the victim tallies.
    • We included a handful of cases also known as “spree killings“—cases in which the killings occurred in more than one location, but still over a short period of time, that otherwise fit the above criteria.
    ----------------------
Our research focused on indiscriminate rampages in public places resulting in four or more victims killed by the attacker. We exclude shootings stemming from more conventionally motivated crimes such as armed robbery or gang violence. (Or in which the perpetrators have not been identified.) Other news outlets and researchers have since published larger tallies that include a wide range of gun crimes in which four or more people have been either wounded or killed. While those larger datasets of multiple-victim shootings are useful for studying the broader problem of gun violence, our investigation provides an in-depth look at a distinct phenomenon—from the firearms used and mental health factors to the growing copycat problem. Tracking mass shootings is complex; we believe ours is the most useful approach for studying this specific phenomenon.

The actual number of mass shootings from Mother Jones......

Here you go...the number of mass public shootings according to Mother Jones...rabid, anti gun, left wing news source.....not the NRA...

The list below comes from the old definition of 4 killed to make a shooting a mass shooting...if you now go to the link there are more than listed below...but that is because Mother Jones changed the list from the time I first posted it...and changed to obama's new standard of only 3 dead to make a mass shooting...

We have 600 multiple shootings a year. It's unacceptable

I see you chose to abandon your earlier, false and invented definition of mass shooting. When you make such nonsense claims, expect to be corrected.

In regard to your number of multiple shootings, how many of those are gang related? How many of those shootings involve criminals who were released and never charged for similar crimes by leftist DA's who refused to prosecute?

"Mass shooting" means whatever the person using the term wants it to mean; the only real requirement for the term is that an even involves a firearm and 2 or more people.

As such, the anti-gun troglodytes, in another example of how the (D)ishonest prey on the emotions of the ignorant, have lowered the bar as far as they think they can so as to encompass as many shootings as possible.
In doing so, they dilute the terms to the point where it has no real meaning.

"Mass shootings" in America, 2022:
"Mass shootings" as defined by:
Mass Shootings in 2022 | Gun Violence Archive

Total mass shootings: 636
Total killed, mass shootings: 660
Average killed per shooting: 1.04

Total firearm-related murders in US, 2022: ~10500
% mass shootings: ~6.29%

Mass shootings in the US represent less than 6.5% of the firearm-related, and 4.5% of the total, murders in the US

That's not the impression you get from the news, eh?
There's a reason for that.

I like how you changed the wording again....

Multiple shootings are not mass public shootings.....

Gang shootings are not the same crime as mass public shootings. They have different causes, different solutions....but only the gang shootings give you the numbers you need to scare people who don't live in democrat party controlled crap holes....and who don't live in the tiny areas of those cities where gangs shoot it out with each other....

We had 12 mass public shootings in 2022 in a country of over 350 million people........74 people killed...

Considering deer kill 200 people every year, and bathtubs kill 350 people each year.....ladders 300....it is no wonder you have to lie about shootings in order to stampede uninformed people into supporting your fascism....

And then.....if you extrapolate from their, and look at the majority of those they want to lump into the equation...the vast majority of those are committed by young black males, in democrat party controlled cities.......

I wonder how fast they will cry "racist," when that little fact is brought out in their own statistics?

Tis true - >60% of the murders in the US are committed by a demographic which represents about 3% of the US population.

How to best reduce the murder rate of the US?
Civilize the savages.

Nope, you are the one trying to define the carnage down.

We have 600 mass shootings a year. It's unacceptable.

For the happy day when we love our children more than we love our guns.

Um, no. You use the ridiculous, ''...because I say so"', admonishment.

Did you notice you gave up the meaningless ''multiple shootings a year" for ''mass shootings'?

Just make it up as you go.

We don' have 600 mass public shootings a year....the democrat party judges, prosecutors and politicians keep letting out convicted gun criminals who shoot at each other in the cities the democrats control.....but we do not have 600 mass public shootings, not even remotely close...

Yup, you see, if you throw the word "public" in there, that somehow makes mass shootings less bad because it's only the darkies, amiright?

We lock up 2 million people. locking people up isn't a solution, it's part of the problem.

Um, yeah. The left has decided that putting criminals in jail is a problem.

Much better to return repeat offenders to the street where they can, you know, repeatedly offend.

Such is the diseased leftist mind.

Um, yeah. The left has decided that putting criminals in jail is a problem.

The problem with mass incarceration is that it creates a permanent criminal class. You send a kid to jail for a petty offense, leave him in there for months or years awaiting trial because he can't afford bail, extenuate his anti-social tendency by putting him in with hundreds of other anti-social people, and you wonder why he comes out much, much worse?

The rest of the industrialized world doesn't lock up millions of people. They lock up the truly dangerous. They don't let every idiot who wants a gun have one, they have extensive social programs, addiction treatment and mental health programs.

And while we are here arguing over a Single Shooting, a Multiple Shooting or a Mass Public Shooting, and how many people have to die before we worry, they have so few homicides that it barely registers.
