The grim antithesis to liberal education

The Campus Hate Crime Hoax Epidemic
Fed by leftist mass hysteria, a radical academic vanguard, and an increasingly greedy racial-grievance industry.

As Americans have seen in the Obama era, the cultish, Democrat-endorsed Black Lives Matter movement, whose members openly urge the murder of cops, is built on the Big Lie that police routinely use black Americans for target practice. This evil movement draws many of its activists from college and university campuses.

This makes sense. The academy is a logical enough home for modern-day racists, especially those with dark skin, a condition that makes them more or less immune to serious scrutiny. In the professorate there is no shortage of supporters of racist cop-killing black radicals like Mumia abu Jamal and Assata Shakur.

The universities are filled with pseudo-intellectual black academics like Kwanzaa inventor Maulana Karenga, Marc Lamont Hill, Michael Eric Dyson, and Cornel West, as well as malevolent radicals like Angela Davis, Julianne Malveaux, black liberation theology creator James Cone, and Obama's late legal mentor and critical race theory originator Derrick Bell. They, along with plenty of pseudo-intellectual radical white academics, consider it their life's mission to indoctrinate students in order to eventually force unwanted change on American society.

In such a political and intellectual climate it shouldn't be all that surprising that racial hoaxes thrive on the nation's college and university campuses. Without lies, the Left would have no recruiting tools. Lies sell books and movie tickets and get people to volunteer their time for what they think is a worthy cause. (British journalist Milo Yiannopoulos compiled a helpful list of more than 100 hate crime hoaxes from the past decade in a recent Breitbart News article.)

Lies about racist white people running wild serve as especially effective get-out-the-vote programs for left-wing Democrats. The killings of Trayvon Martin of Sanford, Fla., and Michael Brown of Ferguson, Mo., were not sparked by race. Martin and Brown, despite the relentless left-wing propaganda muddying the waters, both initiated physical violence against white authority figures -- a neighborhood watch volunteer and a police officer respectively -- who ended up killing them in self-defense.

America is a terrible racist country rife with injustice and misery, the Left wants to tell people. If left-wingers can't get their hands on useful facts, they fabricate their own facts.

It is unclear whether the act complained of at Salisbury University was intended as a simple prank, an exercise in cultural consciousness-raising, or a political false flag operation calculated to foment civil unrest, but it is clear that the school is hiding behind a privacy law in order to refuse to say who did it and try to keep a lid on details.

The fake hate crime consisted of a childish drawing on a whiteboard of a crying stick figure hanging from a noose. The N-word appears beside an arrow pointing to the body and below it the phrase "#WhitePower" appears.

...

The recovering academic continues:

"The psychology involved sometimes is complex, revolving around self-hate, but in other instances, it is purely commercial – the opportunity to raise money, or bullying – the opportunity to intimidate spineless college administrators into meeting demands for (variously) ethnic or sexuality studies programs faculty slots, student centers, or any of the other baubles purchased out of the high tuitions and student activity fees extorted in return for a degree."

Lifson is right, of course.

Which suggests the epidemic of race hoaxes on America's college and university campuses isn't likely to subside any time soon.

With rare exceptions, the contemporary college campus has become a parody of itself.

The one institution that is supposed to be devoted to innovative thought and the free exchange of ideas has become quite possibly more restrictive in these respects than any other. The reason for this can be summed up in two words: Political Correctness (PC).

“Political Correctness” is the name that has long been used to designate a leftist, “progressive” orthodoxy that is the Zeitgeist of present-day Western societies. It suffers no competitors and is particularly entrenched in academia.

Examples of the pervasiveness, irrationality, and oppressiveness of the PC campus abound.

The College Fix (TCF) is a campus watch organization most of whose contributing authors are college students. In a recent article, Dominic Mancini informs the public about the latest turn of events at Illinois State University. The latter, he tells us, is preparing to roll out a “bystander training program on microaggressions.”

A representative of the university told TCF that the training program will consist of “presentations” that “will help to define what microaggressions are and provide strategies for people who encounter them in social, classroom, or professional settings.” The representative continued, explaining that “the program is being instituted as part of Illinois State’s efforts at raising awareness on diversity issues and being a welcoming and inclusive campus for all students and faculty.”

Evidently, the program on microaggressions is necessary, for a university press release reports that “women and students of color” complain about feelings of “isolation, invisibility, marginalization, and a sense of needing to change themselves in an effort to make their white peers feel more comfortable.” Moreover, these students also “expressed how they lacked a safe space in their new courses with any opportunities to grapple with these concerns given the lack of affirmation from their respective professors.”

TCF contributor Tirzah Montanye shares information regarding the new sociology course over at Cal State Fullerton. “The Social Life of Food,” Dr. Dana Collins, the instructor, told TCF, is aimed to acquaint students with “how all food has a social life, which includes its production within a global food system that rests upon and reproduces global social inequalities” and motivate them to “learn about, imagine, and act upon the possibilities of food justice!”

By the semester’s end, students should know how to write “a recipe that is decolonized.” For their final project, they can do one of two things.

On the one hand, they have the option of writing a paper on a food of their choice, “analyzing its history, transformation through global capitalist production, its environmental costs, and the racialized-gender work that is part of its production.”

On the other hand, students can go to an anti-Trump website, a site offering ways by which to “resist” the President, and adopt from it a “build strategy.”

Dave Huber is another TCF writer who reports on Ohio State University’s “Global Studies Program,” the local home of “Showing Up for Racial Justice.” The latter, via “community organizing, mobilizing, and education” aims to motivate “White people to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability.”

...

The foregoing is just a random selection of cases illustrating the intellectual—or anti-intellectual—life on most college campuses today.

It’s a problem and it’s high time that we address it.

Oppressive Lunacy: Higher Ed in 2017

There are certain words that are absolute in their meaning, and which are reduced to absurdity by modifiers. I speak, of course, of things like, "Social Justice," and "Political Correctness."

JUSTICE, while possibly difficult to define in some cases, is the state of being where individual behavior results in an appropriate result. Johnny answered every question correctly and scored an 'A' on his exam. Mary was caught cheating on the exam and was given an 'F.' Billy robbed a bank and was apprehended, tried, and convicted, on reliable evidence, and will spend 10 years in prison for his act.

Justice.

"Social Justice" turns the concept of Justice on its head. Annette was promoted to President of the company, though she lacked any relevant experience, because the Board of Directors thought it was time to have a woman in that position. The Charlotte Charlatans Baseball Team hired a 'Black" manager under pressure from league officials to promote "diversity." Maung Cho was turned down by Harvard medical school because they already had too many Asians in the freshman class.

Injustices all. And yet, 'Social Justice' is taught in College to be a desirable end.

So the usual mix of campus lefties and Islamists tried to block a man who faced real threats of violence from speaking by claiming that they feel unsafe. This is how campus free speech now works.

Danish journalist and free speech advocate Flemming Rose recently drew an aggressive pack of student protesters to his speech at Franklin & Marshall College as he spoke on his book The Tyranny of Silence: How One Cartoon Ignited a Global Debate on the Future of Free Speech.

Except that free speech isn't debated on campus. It's suppressed with whining.

...

And here's where we come to the mix of Islamist rhetoric and intersectional garbage. Theocracy and Marxism. This is what the left looks like now.

At Rollins College near Orlando, Florida, a Christian sophomore was suspended from the private school for challenging his Muslim professor’s assertions that the crucifixion of Jesus never happened and that his disciples didn’t believe in his divinity.

Central Florida Post reported on the ordeal:

...

Shortly thereafter, Zufari canceled class and filed a complaint against Polston with the campus dean, saying he made her feel “unsafe.”

When the class resumed, Zufari began a lesson on applying Sharia Law. That’s when another Muslim student chimed in with some shocking beliefs but received no punishment from the school:

...

“Our university should be a place where free-speech flashes and ideas can be spoken of without punishment or fear of retribution,” Polston told The College Fix. “In my case it was the total opposite. … I came forward with the story because I know so many other students like me suffer under today’s liberal academic elite.”

There is one hurdle that conservatism can never get over regarding college.

Knowledge naturally leads people to a more liberated understanding of life and the universe and away from religion, dogma, and stasis. When you hear conservatives whine about 'liberal colleges' it isn't some nefarious conspiracy. The more the vast majority of people learn the less scared they are of life. This is antithesis to conservatism which is based at it's core on fear. Fear of the other, fear of change, fear of the unknown.

Knowledge shines a light on all the scary things in life and they aren't scary anymore. Lack of knowledge leaves fear as the primary driver, which is why the conservative base is so easily scared and why conservative media fosters and feeds that fear 24/7. Fox News loves to use words like 'terror' 'terrorism' 'war' (this one is a favorite go-to words, a war on Christmas, a war on Christians, a war on Easter. Perpetual war keeps the sheep afraid and clinging to every word and action their dear leaders take to 'protect them'), 'radical'...

This is also why conservative media presents every argument as us vs them. Always. This represents a form of war does it not, and if we are in a war and it's us vs them then you certainly wouldn't be caught dead siding with 'them' on any issue. These methods are as old as the human race and they still work.

WHO MAY SAY WHAT ABOUT WHOM AT WELLESLEY
Modern-day Torquemadas weaponize potential hurt feelings by suppressing free speech.
April 18, 2017

Richard L. Cravatts
wellesley_college_tower_court.jpg

Something alarming is happening on campuses, fueled by tendentious and morally self-righteous progressive students, and some faculty, who have displayed a shocking disregard for the university’s cardinal virtue of free expression, deciding themselves who may say what about whom on their respective campuses—and purging from campuses those ideas they have deemed too hateful, too unsafe, too incendiary to tolerate or to allow to be heard.

Until now, these champions of the aggrieved have been less than transparent in both their motives and intentions, disingenuously asserting that their efforts to suppress the speech of those with opposing conservative views is done to protect perceived victim groups. Ideas which are contrary to these social justice warriors’ acceptable worldview are dismissed as contemptible—not even worthy of being debated—or are neutralized and debased by designations which characterize it as ‘hate speech’ because it is, depending on the victim groups attacked, racist, sexist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, or homophobic. So sure of their righteousness and ideology are they that they do not even try to hide their preconceived notions and evident bias against ideas they have decided are beyond the pale or unworthy of being given voice.

...

Unfortunately, many on the left believe that their progressive views are virtuous and moral, and those of conservatives are regressive, cruel, and unjust. The moral rectitude of these academics is not only ill-conceived, but startling and offensive. “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive,” observed literary critic C.S. Lewis, who bemoaned exactly this type of individual, “omnipotent moral busybodies . . . who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Liberterianism and the anti-government movement really has very similar mind sets to the people we're at war with in the middle east. They hate modern civilization, education and wish for it to be gone.

These people are the greatest threat to civilization in a very long time. They aim to destroy the college as the college promotes reasoned views on economics and politics that are against liberterianism....Liberterianism is all about taking everyones wealth and handing it to the few percent at the top and to hell with the rest of our country...Baron and serf once against is what they want.

They are very much at war with modern life. What is hard to understand is why they are fanatical about forcing everyone else to live as they live. The Amish certainly reject modern life but they just live the life they want to live and leave everyone else alone. The alt-right and conservatives in general seem angry that they can't force everyone else to join them. What the hell is that? Just go have your far right whackjob enclosures and leave everyone else the hell alone. Instead they are hell bent on changing all of society to their image.

Not gonna happen cons, get over it.

For somebody who takes the time and effort to chime in (mostly inaccurately) about education...you sure do have a poor grasp on the English language. Seriously, you seem to be one those people wanting to keep America the way it is (and that's fine), yet you lack basic grammar skills. Pick up a book sometime and learn your language because you're making yourself look like illiterate.
