And this is news? They've always been very moderate, so this is no surprise.

You're right, but conservatives were counting on them. Now they've let America down big time. Let's hope they never ever get elected to public office again.

Hey, where is that maverick spirit?

Yep, but he still has always been a small spender, so he's not going with a gang of 14 on this stimulus bill.

I don't care for him, but he is leading the charge against the porkulus...

Somehow I think you are confused. A Maverick doesn't let people railroad them. They stand up for what they believe in.

Note.. even the libbies best buddy,Mccain, is against the bailout. It really MUST suck ass.

Maybe you are the one who is confused, they could be standing up for what they believe in.

The same thing was probably said about the people that were against the war in Iraq, so called "mavericks" were called traitors. You re now calling them politicians who railroad other people, they may be thinking they are "saving" the US economy by voting for "a rescue package".

It just depends from your point of view, I could never see the republicans electing Mccain either if it wasn't because the majority of the country didn't like republicans (at the time of the elections). So who do they vote for?
They pick the one who seems to be the least republican and put a sticker on his head with "maverick" on it.

No, they have supported America. It is the other goosestepping Repugs that have let America down. See you in the 2010 elections.

Uh...always siding with the opposition IS what these three RINO's always do. Why do you think the Dems love them so much? Nope not being Mavericks...just predictible is all.

well, both of my senators have lost MY vote now

but that doesnt mean it cant change again

You don't like opposition, eh? That's why the Republicans lost Congress in 2006 and why Obama won in 2008. The Repugs were power hungry and didn't care what the opposition thought. Now we've got the government controlled by Democrats. You saw how one-party rule worked from 2001-2006. What makes you think it's going to be better now?

McCain has always pandered to the Left. That's why the Press loved him and called him something nice like 'Maverick'. And after years of pandering, he is essentially a Democrat with an 'R' at the end of his name. America doesn't need two Democrat Parties. I'm quite happy that McCain lost. It should be a lesson to all Republicans.

They certainly didn't support their constituents who elected them old rocks. Of coarse, your going to give me a chart, or graph or a scientific study that says the majority of Americans are for this socialist bill. The polls last week stated that 55% of Americans...not just republicans were against this bill. You dumbocrats are all the same old rocks. You can't think without having the government tell you what to think. If this bill fails, and it will, I will assure you that 2010 will not go your way. So...see you in 2010

the republican party isn't conservative. they are reactionaries. the three who voted to try to do something for their constituences besides being obstructionist wingnuts are doing so because a) they have a sense of responsibility; and b) they represent diverse constituencies all of whom voted for Obama and won't support senators they see as not offering anything to fix what the repubs broke.

all three are plenty partisan when needed. but they aren't going to do so just to do so.

I wonder if Snowe and Collins were this easy in high school? Obama invites them over, chats them up for awhile and they respond with the political equivalent of inviting him under the bleachers. I hope he at least bought them dinner first.

You won't get any arguments from me about the Republican Party. The GOP needs to be disbanded. They are becoming too much like LBJ-style Democrats who vote for tax cuts because they think they understand supply-side economics. They are a major joke and these 3 RINOs are yet more proof.
