Its just a few days until maga takes control of the US and it is time to consider what the worst case scenarios might be.
Like all authoritarian regimes they have already identified their scapegoats and it is clearly going to be a tough 2 years for migrants and the LGBT community.
I understand that there are already migrant camps set up to deport people to somewhere. I can see that process going on until it upsets trumps paymasters and interferes with their ability to exploit workers.
It will also affect the US economy in a negative fashion as economic activity will drop.
So I think that performative brutality will dwindle as America realises that immigration underpins the US.
The real problem faces the gay/trans community. I was watching a programme about the holocaust last night and it didnt start with gas chambers. It started with 100s of irritating laws designed to impact Jewish citizens.
In effect the GOP have started that process at state level where the craziest representatives work. so hard to spread misery.
This is likely to now be replicated at federal level where they can victimise people on a grander scale.
Nancy Mace and the Rev Johnson has given us a taste of that with their Capitol toilets ban.. They will continue with this performative cruelty with the aim of eliminating gay people by the end of the term. This is how nazi authoritarian regimes work.
Gays out of the army , women in the kitchen, these are the moronic policies these wierdos voted for.
We will see more and more laws passed that restrict freedom and then criminalise any behaviour they publicly disapprove of. Of course privately they are well up for a bit of sodomy the same as most people.
Its a bleak prospect for the US. I do not think that Americans are full blown bigots but they notice their bank balance which is more important than their bible.
As the negative effects of trumps crazy economics start to hit pockets there will be an upswing of resistance that will lead to the GOPs crash in 2026.
