Ouch. Its only gotten worse since then. What the hell happened between the Republican party of the 50's and The Republican party in 1964? Just a remind this is the platform of the republican party in 1956

1. Provide federal assistance to low-income communities;

2. Protect Social Security;

3. Provide asylum for refugees;

4. Extend minimum wage;

5. Improve unemployment benefit system so it covers more people;

6. Strengthen labor laws so workers can more easily join a union;

7. Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of sex.

The GOP has become the states right's anti-federalist...unless in power, then they are patriotic chicken hawks...
I am all for states rights and stuff etc but seems like Republicans of today have hijacked what a real republican is. Eisenhower would be ashamed. Socially I am right in line hell probably to the right of most of today's republicans but economically I am not...I think both parties take advantage and try to gain a foothold over the other but neither really cares for the people. They have gotten away with doing as they please for far to long. Its why Jefferson called for a revolution every few decades. Let the Fed Gov know who was still in charge. We the People.
