I was going to mention that, but I'm glad you did.Cover of a classic done by someone else.
Another song he just covered.

Well, what's funny is that none of those you mentioned are even in Rolling Stone's top 20!The GOAT? Elvis WAS the King of Rock and Roll, but I wouldn't say he was the GOAT. The GOAT vocally may be Elton John from the early 70's to mid 80's. Or possibly Robert Plant from his Led Zeppelin days. Female singers? Linda Ronstadt gets my vote. I'd also David Bowie to GOAT singers.
Elvis has been called the "King of Rock and Roll".Elvis is the King. I rest my case.
rolling stone has lost a lot of credibility with the way they handled the Rock Hall of Fame.......Cover of a classic done by someone else.
Another song he just covered.
BTW, Rolling Stone magazine's poll ranked Elvis #17.
Their number one was Aretha Franklin.
he wasnt a creator.....Chuck Berry and Little Richard were rock creators.....Ricky Nelson was like Elvis a good looking white kid who can sing but composed nothing...but both had 2 of the best early Rock guitarists...Scotty Moore and James Burton...made them sound pretty good....Who cares if he wrote the songs. He was a singer and not a song writer.
he had scotty moore made him sound as good as he did...Elvis had a weak band. A string bass competing with 70s' rock sounds or Country rock? No chance no matter how good the vocals or the gyrations.
It was a poll, duh! The magazine, not the group!Who the heck reads Rolling Stone?![]()
THE greatest interpreter of other musicians' songs?.....that is a matter of opinion....he wasnt the only one out there doing that...I'll add that Elvis was probably THE greatest interpreter of other musicians' songs. And he DID have one of the greatest voices that was ever heard in rock and roll music.
