There was no insurrection.

Had they all been heavily armed and rushed the capitol with their guns drawn and from many different angles to prevent escape, you may have a point. This was a crowd that got out of control. A crowd that had no real plan and didn't prepare to do anything in particular. Those that broke the law by destruction of public property and assaulting police officers should be punished as should those who peacefully trespassed. Their punishment should fit the crime, not some hyped up liberal nonsense that puts them behind bars for decades. Most if not all have already served more than enough time to fit the actual crimes they may have committed, which is why I am ok with Trump selectively pardoning them. If there are some outliers that committed more serious offenses that have yet to serve enough time, then let them finish out their sentence, assuming it was reasonable.
