To me the exact opposite is true. Real men protect and defend the innocent, vulnerable and defenseless among us. There is nothing manly (or honorable, imo) about exploiting, bullying and needlessly killing defenseless beings. Sentient beings who would rather be loved than stabbed in the throat to end up on your plate.
The problem is, people have been brainwashed for many years to think eating meat is "manly." Old, deeply entrenched traditions are hard to break, I guess. It is starting to change though, thank God.
